Take into account how poor he looked pretty much from the Kovalev I through Bivol losses, and how everyone had written him off as being a key player on the world scene anymore. To resurface in 2019 at the age of 37, snatch Browne's zero, and then upset the Swede (a legit contender in pretty much everyone's book) under the wire, a few days after Christmas? That's one hell of a way to rewrite your career's final chapter.

What if he does so in very impressive fashion - say, deals The Ripper his first KO loss in half a decade (since Derek Edwards on ShoBox) ...would that sway things?

...and before anyone scoffs at the very mention of his being in the "Fighter" running...let's remember that honestly the field this year is pretty thin, as far as that goes. The best fighters in the game didn't really post big marquee coups. Usyk, for instance, fought just once and beat Chazz Witherspoon. Inoue beat Man-Rod and Donaire, sure, both very good - but he was a massive favorite against both.

If you took his Crolla win (this spring) and swapped it for his Pedraza win (last December), then you would have a hell of a blockbuster year for Loma, with the Sniper and Campbell. I'm not sure Campbell & Crolla has quite the same luster to it, though..

As for Canelo, the asterisks surrounding the Kovalev win don't bear repeating here. Remove them, and Krusher + DJ would make for an untouchable year.

Comeback of the year, if he beats Jack.

But not fighter of the year, Manny Pacquiao deserves that for beating two prime naturally bigger men, one (Thurman) arguably a top 3 welterweight.

He got my vote. Favorite fighter. Pascal is the Webster's definition of an old ass badass battle axe war horse.

I hate this fight. Pascal and Jack are 2 of my favorites, I hate that one of them has to lose. Though I'm probably rooting a little more for Jack, because I think he has more left in him.

    Comeback yes, fighter no.

Badou is way past it imo, he looked terrible against Browne.

Neither Browne or Jack are top 10 guys in my opinion.

I give it to him if he beats Badu. Especially if he can KO him.

Is AB really in his prime? Or Thurman for that matter?

Hard to think of any other comeback fighter of note tbh

Can Xu is my dark horse for Fighter of the year... On the back of a **** US debut he has become a genuine breakout, scored a big upset to put himself on the map, and ticks the boxes with his style

    Among others Pascal has fought

    B-Hop x 2
    Kovalev x 2
    Dawson
    Froch
    Bute
    Bivol
    Eleider Alvarez
    Branco
    Diaconu x 2
    Marcus Browne
    Yunieski
    Elbiali

And Jack is up next. He's fought everyone and only been dropped once and stopped x 2, both by prime Krusher.

LHW Chin of the Decade by a country mile and if he beats Jack after upsetting Browne that will be an impressive comeback for sure given his age, the stage of his career he's at, and all the wars he's been in.

Asterisks? Who are you trying to fool? He schooled DJ then moved up to 175 and knocked Kovalev clean out. There were no dodgy scorecard excuses, there was no catchweight to cry over. Canelo put his big boy pants on moved up to the full weight and knocked Krusher the **** out. Trying to claim there were any asterisks involved in what Canelo accomplished this year is lunacy.
