What exactly warrents Parker a title fight? He lost AJ & Whyte and barely won against Ruiz in a questionable decision which makes him barely fringe level (and that is me being generous) I just don't get why Parker is still rated to fight for a belt!?
Man , the writing is on the wall....he never had much fire in the Belly, picked up a Alphabet title almost by default, struggled mightily afterwards and mailed it in against AJ. Loosing against C level Whyte is embarrassing ......going rounds and rounds with a shot punchbag afterwards.....then the "Spiderbite"....he aint there anymore. 27 years old has nothing to do with it......he would have to drop his current trainer, move to the US and rebuild his career, not gonna happen due to his inability to make dramatic changes, he is content tp pick up some pay checks even in loosing.
He barely got a victory from Ruiz which many believed Ruiz won and let's face it, Ruiz fought an undermotivated and one dimensional Anthony Joshua, in the rematch Anthony Joshua Schooled Ruiz. The credibility of Ruiz has gone down as well as the credibility of Parker.
The definition of the top ten Heavyweights is like a really good album, most songs are great, but there are always a few gap fillers, and thats what Joseph Parker is
Not a bad fight for Parker as after a third loss surely he cuts Barry and gets a real trainer in KiA what's you honest opinion on Barry?
I think both Parker and Barry have a lot to prove - and they are feeling the pressure. They know this is it - make or break. And I think it will bring a fire we have not seen. Proof is in the pudding
I agree they have a bit to prove now. People are quick to blame the trainers, but I think Parker can still improve under Barry. Despite what a lot of people think, I believe it’s the HW division is very competitive at the moment so it’s natural that most of these HW will have a few losses on their records.
As you know, I am a big Parker fan but I suspect Parker's stock will disappear in a way it will be very hard to rebuild from if he fights Usyk before Usyk proves himself at HW against another credible HW. I feel like there aren't many that view it that way - but since Usyk started talking about going to HW I have really hoped that Duco would not go there as Usyk's confidence, ring IQ, movement and ability to expose weaknesses I think will make Parker look limited, poorly conditioned and basically clown him. Parker will actually remain dangerous (he should have been able to beat Whyte with some semi competent/neutral reffing) at HW, but after the kind of fight I see him having with Usyk he'd no longer be worth the risk for other heavies and really runs the risk of disappearing from people's mouths. It would be a serious nail in a coffin, and a terrible mistake imho - I personally was relieved that it sounds like AJ plans to honor his mandatories as the Parker vs Usyk title shot would be hard for the Parker camp to ignore but also all-or-nothing in a situation where there is little Parker could bring to seriously threaten Usyk.
