Canelo thrives against come forward fighters who throw a lot of punches. Why do you think Kovalev opted to box from the outside instead of coming forward and unloading his arsenal? GGG changed his style to suit the fight, he had Canelo doing a marathon in their first fight, got robbed, changed his style the rematch and outboxed an ineffective Canelo on the front foot. This isn’t about Golovkin, Derevyanchenko would of given Canelo hell, a much better fight than Kovalev and please don’t suggest Derevyanchenko is the same as the Mexican scrubs like Angelo or Chavez jr......he’s levels above them “pressure” fighters.
That's funny, because it was Canelo is the multi dimensional fighter who has actually fought the way he fought GGG both times in the past. He fought JCCjr and Liam Smith the way he fought the first Golovkin fight. And he fought Angulo and Cotto the way he fought Golovkin for the rematch. Golovkin looked awkward af and very uncomfortable in the first three rounds of their first fight, and in the entire rematch. Canelo also landed the cleaner power punches and punches overall kin both fights. First of all, one of the main reasons why Derevyechneko was able to beat Golovkin was because he had superior speed, and was able to score more points beating him to the punch, to the face and body. No one is outslugging Canelo to the body, Canelo is arguably the best body puncher in the sport. Also, Canelo arguably has the fastest hands in above welterweight, and is the most explosive fighter above welterweight as well.. Derevyanchenko does not seem to have the power to make Canelo tentative, and he definitely does not have the defense to escape Canelo's offense. Canelo would be a huge favorite going into the fight, and rightly so.
