I can not understand but Mayorga must have been the Nemesis for Vernon.
How fuken awesome Forrest was and how he lost two times against guy who he was superior in every single way. This must be case of the old saying "he got his number".
Imo Mayorga was tough sob, tough as nails but he wasnt no where near the level of Vernon.

    What do you think guys?

The rematch was a robbery. He clearly outlanded Mayorga in at least 8 rounds. It was a fight that highlights CompuBox's innaccuracy.

It was the end of the fire that consumed Mayorga.

Both fights made Mayorga life changing money and dimmed the fire inside his belly.

I thought Mayorga won the rematch but it was close.

I thought Forrest lost his poise and composure, why he lost.

I won big money on that fight. Mayorga was on a roll, and Vernon was a little full of himself at that point. He was bragging that he was going to knock Mayorga out instead of simply outboxing him and using his height, reach, and speed advantages. I knew it was a bad strategy bu Vernon. He paid the price. I bet on Mayorga again in the rematch, and felt a little fortunate to win that second bet. That fight could have gone either way.

I didn't think Mayo won the rematch but he took away Vernons confidence and he fought scurred.

Well, imo, when most people think of Mayorga, they are thinking of a different Mayorga than the one Vernon fought.

A slim, 147lb, prime Mayorga, was an animal, and I think there's a small window of his prime where he'd be hard for most skill based boxers.

Line up the whose who at welter since that fight... and imo the Mayorga that showed up for Forrest would give them all hell.

Unfortunately, the Mayorga that rose up in weight lost that edge that made him relatively special and in doing so he settled into a simple, strong, tough brawler.

Mayorga's bravado was his rise and demise.... never forget his fight with Tito.... asking Tito to hit him on the chin... be careful what you wish for...

That said, Ricardo was a warrior, one of the most brutal fights Cotto v Mayorga... Cotto coming back from Margo's loaded wraps lost... it took him 12 rounds to get Mayorga out... on a fight the gave the same as they took!

My friend from Nicaragua said they were booing mayorga when he took the plane back home to Nicaragua. The fight with Corey spinks was kinda weird. Some of those slips were knockdowns...

I don’t think he lost his fire, he should of won his fight vs Spinks after the Forrest fights. Trinidad just simply ruined him, it was a severely nasty beating.
