in history of boxing, you had boxers that had the number of their opponents... Mayorga v Forrest, JMM v PAC , Duran vs DeJesus...is it technical or psychological... or both... or even personal history...because one was sparring partner and always has that sparring partner mentality...
The most recent one that these maggots around here try hard to forget is Orlando Salido beating the potato varenyky (Potato Dumplings) out of Lomachenko. Arum was trying to push this guy too hard too soon like he was a boss and Siri simply applied that pressure and had him all ****ed up. He beat Loma so bad that he didn't even try to avenge the loss even though he was being pushed as some ****ing second coming, of who, I don't know. Salido had his number and still has it. Lomachenko hasn't faced a pressure fighter since but you can't tell that to the brown shirt brigade of BN24 because in their mind the guy is undefeated. This content is protected
Fine, ill bite. You do realize that it was an extremely close fight? Having ones number is not winning by a single point. And there really aren´t many guys around like Salido.
But a fantastic recent one is Alberto Machado vs Andrew Cancio. IMO Machado is the better boxer, but Cancio still tapped that ass twice.
There are several points to argue your post : - It was not a fair match, and it was not a title defense as the only person fought for the title was the challenger. Salido missed his weight significantly on the scale and he came to the ring not as featherweight champion, but as a welterweight. Why do you think WBO give Loma chance to challenge Russell Jr. next after he lost the fight ? It was a compensation. - Salido only won by split decision. It was an even match where Loma stole the points of the the last rounds. He didn't beat Loma. But I must agree that he low-blowed him. - Loma tried to avenge his loss many times, especially after he went up to 130. At mid 2017, he gave Salido one year to make the fight. A year later, as no sign the fight to be made, Loma went to fight Linares. Unwilling to get embarassed by Loma, Salido chose to might Miguel Roman for much less money to get his ass kicked hard.
DeJesus definitely did not have Duran's number. He won 1/3 and it was a very competitive 10 round decision. Aside from the flash KD in the second fight he dominated DeJesus. Especially in the 3rd fight.
Ken Norton had Ali's number. Unfortunately for him a couple of judges changed that number during 2 of the fights.
I do not agree with you on this. What i saw was a great AMATEUR boxer getting a painful education in professional boxing. Salido got away with stuff you'd never get away with in the AMs. But they were not fighting in the AMs. By the end of the fight, Lomachenko adjusted and was getting the better of Salido. It was a necessary education for Loma in just how dirty and physical the pro game can be.
Yep. This is the classic case. Ali, as skilled as he was had real trouble with Norton. I think Ali even admitted this.
