Personally seen 4 or 5 this year. It varies year by year but it's far too many this year alone. And possibly a trend on a rise. 1 is enough but 2, 3, 4 is too much.A lot of boxers hard work dashed because of some bias judges and home fighter advantage or the a-sider gets a gift. I mean It's just irritating.
Figure out the most reliable judges and pay them accordingly. Weed out the rest. Fine, suspend, and ban those who egregiously mis-score fights. Have the judges score fights via close circuit television feeds with instant replay between rounds. It’s impossible to see all the action accurately from near ringside, and some judges are probably also subconsciously swayed by the crowds’ reactions. Maybe even increase the number of judges to 5. Not a silver bullet but it would make it that much harder for one or two bad apples to spoil a fight.
Sounds like he made a 180 degree turn then. as long as he came around. As far as that story on that woman sounds like the epitome of a politician; hypocrisy. Crazy story! I see bull ears in my sleep I know who Im posting to the next morning!
Everyone keeps going straight to "it´s corruption!!!" It´s incompetence and lack of knowledge. Wtf does it even take to become a judge? Just about anyone can become one. Think of MMA. They constantly have to deal with boxing judges who have been appointed to their fights. That´s like appointing a basketball referee to a soccer game. Judges need to be better educated on their profession. This includes actual boxing training.
But surely there could be a way to challenge the decision and have a re score the fight.. Fans involvement perhaps online vote to re score the fight. Or get these judges to explain how they gave the rounds to such and such A-side fighter. And why they gave it wide scores when the fight is close. Which is also irritating. We never hear the judges explain how they decided to score it lop sided when the fight is close.
Close fight situation. Then the verdicts comes out it's a wide unanimous decision. For example Collum Smith vs Ryder we know that was a robbery, it was close how the F#$% then that the judges scored it. 116-112 Francisco Rosa. SPAIN 117-111 Terry Occonor. Birmingham, UK. 116-112 Jose Torres. Puerto Rico.
We need more judges and to then remove cards which are at the extreme end. Surely we should have a combination of in person judges and TV judges? The consensus of the journalists and fans watching on TV, often come up with more accurate scorecards than certain judges in the arena. We could have 3 in person and 3 watching from TV without commentary. You then take the median average 3 scores and build the result from that. So if you have 116-112, 116-112, 114-113, 115-113, 115-113, 114-114. The result is 115-113, 114-113 and 114-114. You take away the extreme cards on either side, and settle on the cards which are in the median distribution.
Well we should be able to rate the judges performance. If they are giving horrendous score cards they get a low score. If they continue to get poor scores then they can't judge a fight again and are black listed for life from the sport of boxing.. How many times does these same judges get to judge a fight again and again and come up with ridiculous score cards.
I agree with this because we are paying fans at the end of the day. I believe that we should be able pay for a boxing match and guaranteed to get a fair decision or refund our money lol.If we get some BS decisions.
It all comes down to money and everybody here is complicit. Despite all the robberies we all tune in to the next fight and fill the pockets of those doing the robbing.
There's only one sure way and that's to fight until the stoppage, however long it takes, no point system. Thus boxing would become like old five set tennis without tiebreakers in the fifth, and when matches go deep into the fifth it comes down to mental toughness, physical toughness, somebody's mistake etc., but ultimately somebody cracks. Boxing matches would almost all be concluded under two hours surely, they wouldn't go 5+ hrs or into the next day like tennis, but that would be pretty interesting if they did anyway. That's how you do it, but it would be considered too brutal for modern audiences, even though it might not be much different to now and if a fighter was getting bashed too much without a true KO in the 20th round, corner's would most likely throw towels in. This would also stop 'running' as a 12 round strategy because you need the stoppage. So you might only dance about for a set period to weaken your opponent before having to go for the kill.
I believe there should be a pnd for pnd judges rankings... would be interesting where Byrd is... Also when scores are read we could have an online poll. Agree with the scores to horrible score cards.
