That may be true. Shavers fought a lot of styles, but actually a Quarry might be the closest to Ruiz in style-a quick handed counter-puncher who is aggressive. Just a massive difference in body fat, lol!

I love me some Shavers, & a good man.
But with Ruiz's chin & skills, I think he beats Earnie.

No Shavers is not an all time great. Earnie could punch very hard, but wasn't very durable. He was KOed by Ron Stander, Jerry Quarry (in one in what was to be Shavers coming out party), and Bob Stallings, Lyle and Mercado.

Shavers was a strong contender, fought for the title a couple of times and had a successful career, but was no all time great.

I'm not sure Shavers could beat Ruiz. I think Ruiz is better.

Must say might no be an ATG, but incredible nice person met him in Vegas he was doing a promo at sports store, shop was quiet I jumped out to see him incredible guy spoke for like 30 mins massive hands wide shoulders, strong grip could tell he was a massive puncher, had a few good stories to tell about his fights & spoke very highly of George foreman, Frazier & Ali.

I'll believe my old buddy Randall Tex Cobb when he says " Earnie hits harder than any man I ever fought. Every punch shook me to the core. He was the only man to really hurt me & even make me feel like quitting ".

Doesn't make him an all-time great heavyweight.

Ruiz already won the HW title, and is most likely not finished yet.
