You think the HW Division is bad now?

i hate when people talk about the hw division ( not like this ) but the happenings in the division... its such a boring and irrelevant division .. nobody cares about all those russians and whatever else is going on up there...

i personally hope david haye clears the whole thing out ... it would bring some excitement back

 

Haye is going to be on the recieving end of some Heavyweights highlight reel :thumbsup I imagine him going out similar to the way Audley was sparked :deal

 

I think Povetkin, Solis & Arreola would all knock out Peter McNeeley and probably decision Bonecrusher Smith. Basically I'd say they all could compete just fine in the 80's just so long as they stayed away from Tyson :yep The 90's talent pool way one of the deepest in Heavyweight history though.

 

I highly doubt Povetkin would decision Bonecrusher Smith. Solis and Arreola would get KTFO no question.

 

It's extremely weak and it doesn't look like it will become any better...

But since when it is weak...Since 1999, 2001, 2002?

I would say 2002 or 2003 (Lewis, Wlad, Rahman, Byrd, old Tyson, old Holy, prime Tua, prime Kirk Johnson, Vitali Klitschko, Roy Jones, 220 lbs. James Toney, etc.).

 

Arreola seems pretty poor despite the hype, Solis has the potential but seems to lack the desire big time and refuses to get into decent shape, hence he won't amount to much .

I'm not prepared to right off Povetkin yet, he probably lacks power but seems fine in most other departments and I like his workrate and stamina .

You do have the likes of Haye coming through but I do agree it's very worrying .

The standard of prospects is much lower than a few years ago, and look how they turned out :shock:

 

The problem is, that there are 4 major belts and that we dont have an undisputed champion. In the 90s nobody gave a sh... to that WBO belt.

 

povetkin WOULD beat bonecrusher smith....stop talking **** about the russians they are taking over in every single combat sport in the world and thats how it will be for the next hundred years,,,they are just genetically better fighters

muay thai: arslan magomedov....magomed magomedov...ramazanov...ignashov...kyshenko...etc etc
MMA: emelianenko brothers.....kharutanov....vorchachyn (retired now)....zentsov etc
face the future....if u want to continue to be a boxing fan in the next 20 years u better learn to speak russian lol

I do not think HW are bad now.

It is the matchmaking that sucks.

we were spoilt by previous eras of great fighters that just dont seem to be around these days.
we have to make the most of what we have in the current era, its not brilliant but not that bad either really.
looking forward to david haye cleaning the division up !!!!!!!

 

Povetkin and Solis have a lot more potential than Arreola and some of the others that were pushed several years back, but yes, they likely wouldn't do much in the 90's, when the division was very strong. The 90s overall had one of the strongest divisions in the history of the division.

Some people were even saying Marrone had potential, not many, but.... the kid didn't even look like he belonged in a professional ring, much less lacking any indication of top ability.

I do think Povetkin with his workrate, stamina and pedigree could be quite a good HW and I'm personally bored of Wladimir Klitschko. Solis, if he got down to a reasonable weight would impress you though NX, his skill level is very high and often makes no technical errors. David Haye is the other 'hopeful' for HW, he also wouldnt do much in the 90s, but at least he brings excitement and can beat some of these awful HWs now.

The division is really poor, but Arreola is far from anything resembling a real 'top fighter' and people being hyped on him are jumping the gun.
