I read your comment and I like what you wrote but you did not mentioned that Simmons was knocked and judge gave him 10 count!
The April 1951 issue of The Ring published a photo from the fight (page 21) showing Simmons's face grotesquely distorted as Marciano's glove grinds into the flesh from the side. This picture surfaced again in many newspapers and magazines in 1973 after the publication of a study by British neuropathologist Dr. John Arthur Nicholas Corsellis (1915-1994) on the brains of boxers.

But did they ice Simmons out cold? If they didn’t it dosnt really prove a thing.

Simmons was a rough hombre. The kind of plugging away mauler like Scrap Iron Johnson was.

And just to prove how tough Simmons chin was, here is Charlie Norkus landing the same big blows that didn’t budge Simmons chopping down Cleveland Williams sized Charlie Powell.

Charlie Norkus was a big puncher?

He had a whopping 36% KO ratio. The guy was oft beaten and ko'd and went the distance with plenty of nobodies.

Charlie Powell was green and was never very durable. He did become a better fighter after the Norkus match.

Simmons and Norkus only fought an 8 rounder.

The Parisi and Fisher wins are down as KO's.

Keene (and a Joe Louis quote) had this to say about Marciano -

“Whenever he hit you, wherever he hit you, he hurt you.”—Keene Simmons on Rocky Marciano

    and...

“He fools you,” said Simmons. “When you look at him from outside the ring he seems easy to hit but if you’re in the ring with him you find this isn’t the case. His head is bobbing and he’s crouched low, so low in fact that you can’t get a clear shot at him.” Not to mention that he was on you like a stage-door Johnny on a chorus girl. “I had a bad weakness I kept hid throughout my career,” said Joe Louis. “I didn’t like to be crowded, and Marciano always crowded his opponents. That’s why I say I could never have beaten him.”

Cleveland Williams dropped Keene Simmons in the 5th round.

From what I read, Williams mostly just outpointed Simmons to an extremely easy, lopsided decision win (61-39, 58-42x2) behind his jab. It sounds like he didn't land nearly as many power punches on Simmons as Marciano did.

Did you hear that chok? Williams dropped a guy you are building up as an immovable object. Man that "Big Cat" must have been able to hit!

Or maybe like Simmons said he’s just not as strong a hitter. ‍♂️
