Some of those opponents you've named on Povetkin's resume, he beat them six years prior to fighting Joshua. But that counts now does it? Honestly, these names you are rhyming off does nothing to impress me. Parker would be David Tua's boot cleaner if he was around in the 90s. There lies the problem in the current landscape. The quality is shocking so no one has a stand out resume (apart from Fury and Wilder come Feb 23rd). It says a lot when the old guard Povetkin, Ortiz, and Pulev were the three best outside the top 3, although that ship has sailed now I think. If you aren't fighting Wilder, Joshua, Fury or Usyk then you are fighting b/c level operators by default. The division is so shallow. Fighting one of the aforementioned is a much better scalp on the resume than fighting your Breazeale's, Ruiz's, Parker's over and over. Wilder is now about to fight one of those elite names for the second time and vice versa with Fury. Joshua could easily have fought Usyk next but yet again we have to wait. "The IBF comes before the WBO"! Do me a favour! It's a combination of Hearn squeezing an extra PPV in with Dull boy Pakora vs Usyk, and them not being fully confident in Joshua right now to beat Usyk. Thankfully Dubois and Hrgovic look promising. I had hopes on Hunter, but drawing with a faded Povetkin isn't great.
Let’s say Fury loses. He’s beaten Klitschko, and his next best win as a pro of more than a decade is Dereck Chisora. If Wilder loses, he’s been a champion for five years who’s never beaten any of Joshua, Fury, Klitschko, Povetkin, Parker, Whyte, Ruiz or Pulev. People can harp on about ‘if you’re not fighting one of the other top three you’re fighting nobody’ but that’s clearly nonsense. When Lennox Lewis wasn’t fighting Holyfield or Tyson it didn’t mean that the likes of Tua, Klitschko, Grant and Briggs were no better than Julius Francis.
The contenders in the 90s were actually very good fighters unlike today's crop. That's the difference - a major difference. Jesus Christ, look at you already preparing to tear down Fury/Wilder no matter the outcome. What a sad act. And if Joshua loses to pulev? "He never fought his two biggest rivals. His best win's were against men in their 42nd and 40th year, and he also suffered a humiliating defeat against a no mark fatso on his American debut". Swings and roundabouts. I want to see fighters fight the best, and thanks to Wilder and Fury we are seeing that on Feb 22nd. Can't wait.
Dave Meltzer has confirmed that neither Cain Velasquez nor Tyson Fury will be Brock Lesnar's opponent at WrestleMania 36.
Well quite. If Joshua lost to Pulev that’s a big mark against him. He could end up losing a couple of fights like that, as he has done against Ruiz, and win his biggest fights. Ultimately if he beats Klitschko and Fury, never fights Wilder, loses to Ruiz and Pulev, beats everyone else including Usyk, Dubois and Whyte again, and avenges the Ruiz and Pulev losses, then he’ll have a similar record as Lennox Lewis. I dare say he’d be happy with that. The issue for the loser of the Fury Wilder fight is that they both seem fairly close to the end and both have severely thin records. Fury’s wasted his prime by not fighting and is reliant on the (minging) Klitschko win. And what does Wilder have? A geriatric with a back problem. That’s literally his best win!
You're some boyo. Your lack of self awareness is incredible. So it's grand that AJ loses to Pulev because you assume he'll fight everyone else and win. But if one of Wilder or Fury lose to the other, who happens to be in the top three in the world, their career is a shambles. You've literally just said that. Your petulance is unbelievable man. Unbelievable.
Was going to like that post tony but you used the word minging Your mucb better than that dude Cost you that like Im sure you'll sleep Happy new year dude
Merry Christmas one and all and wishing you all a happy new year. Here’s to new beginnings: hattonmad you are a top solid poster and I always enjoy your contribution to this forum. Your New Years resolution my man is to take a step back when a certain other forum member posts, read it then take one hour - just sixty minutes - to consider your response. If you still feel after one hour the need to respond then by all means go ahead and construct something. I’ll wager 99% of the time you won’t bother and your - and many other posters - forum life will be exponentially more enjoyable. Look forward to a big 2020 from you pal. Tonyhayers - I appreciate Tyson fury has in some way insulted your community in the past and that may have coloured your feelings towards him. I get it. If you research what he said though he was pointing out that the links between your community and paedophilia were openly promoted in the seventies and eighties and referenced a bbc article to back up his claims which you have taken so much offence to. Do your research please, again take a step back, dare I say man up and try and focus on the boxing. Suggest others take you off ignore for the first month of 2020 to see if you can grow as a person. The ball is in your court son. juergen - the light hearted relief on the forum. But a knowledgeable boxing fan behind the comedic delivery. Lay off the homophobic stuff towards hayers and we are all good; any man deserves a chance. Look forward to the 2020 pudding set list. Top man. twentyman - balanced poster, stand up comic in real life? The man in the middle. The mediator. Rises above the noise, decent boxing knowledge, no fanboyism. Big year for twenty in twenty twenty. Cheers Mitchroom shills - you’re just doing your job. Happy new year
Totally agree - close inspection of the Tony Dosh PPV CV does open the eyes as it is full of old and/or small puddings. Will be another 2 puddings in 2020 as well. 1 June 2019 remembered as the day of the pudding and gave people the best laugh in boxthing since Amir Khan was ironed right out by Prescott. The Tony Dosh legacy now will always be his PPV loot and being puddened in New York by a little fatty who could barely jump 3 inches off the ground at the end of the fight. Fury and Wilder are the men to beat in the division with some good contenders Usyk, Bakole, Joyce, Dubois, Hunter hopefully getting a chance soon along with Pudding Whyte. The clique of puddings including Parker, Pulev, Povetkin, Charr, Chisora belong in 2nd division Heavyweight Boxthing.
Sat in the green room of a gig in Leeds (The Wardrobe) smiling at that. Thanks bud. All the best for the new year
I see Arum said only the loser can trigger a 3rd fight and they'll have to take 40% cut, as opposed to 50/50 which they've agreed for rematch.
