When your nickname from barely past adolescence is "Fast Car" you might not be very in touch with the working man.
Sounds like a disaster to me. MAYBE - if they had a monopoly on boxing, forced the best fights, and pushed for champions to fight 3-4 times a year instead of 1-2, MAYBE you could make a case that's worth the money. But they do not have anything remotely resembling a monopoly, and the 2nd and 3rd conditions would be almost impossible to enforce. I'd be shocked if they did this. Far more likely they will increase incrementally.
He is merely saying DAZN should bump the month to month rate to $50/month For people/casuals that are using it to watch one off fights say a AJ vs Ruiz or Cabelo vs Kovalev. To encourage more people to sign up for the yearly discounted rate that most peeps in this forum are already enjoying. to be fair to “fast car” Eddie even at $50/mo One off you would have got 2 PPV bouts in Ruiz vs AJ 2 & canelo vs Kovalev plus all the scrub fights happening in between. A month of boxing for $50 versus typical $50-$75 PPV for a one off event. which is certainly better then what the PPV are from other networks as they are typically more then $50 for one night/event of viewing pleasure,
Remind me how much do you pay for PPV's and how much does DAZN charge you for a year? Either you are hating on Eddie no matter what or you don't know **** about mathematics.
I've never in my life spent $600 in a year on PPVs, and I definitely wouldn't commit to 8+ PPVs without even knowing the matchups. That's what Eddie would be asking subscribers to do. As I said earlier, I think $250 would be fine because you get 3-4 PPV caliber fights per year plus a bunch of other stuff.
Exactly. Just because an event is PPV doesn't mean people will pay fr it. Very few PPV break 300k mark ( just using US market). I'd say the average person may do 3 to 4 a year.
lol what are you talking about? You don't even know how much does DAZN's year subscription costs yet you talk about it. People on this forum...
$20 already is quite high for a streaming service. I'm not saying it's not worth it. Considering the price of PPVs in the US, it probably is, but I haven't done any math. But it just looks high, and that's important in marketing. People think of Netflix, Hulu, ESPN+, Disney+, etc, and they are all lower.
$99 per year is an AMAZING value to watch Inoue, GGG, Canelo, Joshua etc fights. $50 per month is absurd.
To be fair i see what Hearns logic is They practically get rid of monthly subs and can finance and plan ahead with everyone going for the yearly plan which must be what they aim to budget on moving forward The former mayor of London used the same tactic when introducing our personal travel card by increasing fares without one by as much as 3 times the price Therefore it got everyone to begin using the new Oyster card system However that was never going to fail as travel is something we all do at some point Watching boxing is not
In Canada it's over $20 a month so I cancelled it. The fights were disappointing as well: Wilder beat up the old man for the second time time and Canelo Kovalev was ridiculously stupid. They need better fights so that people start signing up. This concept of a young prime guy beating up some shot old guy is boring. This is boxing and not WWE. I want to see real fights and not some A side vs B side BS.
You'll do what Eddie tells you to do. Either that or you can fork out half your monthly earnings watching Bootleg D, Jermallo, and Twink beating up on senior citizens, NFL rejects and shot leprechauns. And I don't think Eddie's suggesting DAZN should raise the fee of their annual plan, I think he's just saying that maybe they should raise their monthly fee in order to entice more people to sign up for their annual plan.
