No idea what you're on about there. The only one you could argue had anything whatsoever to do with pacing was the Hagler fight, and I put that down more to a broken hand and the pace being forced upon him. The others showed no issue at all with pacing issues on his part.

Defense and chin go when you’re tired. Regardless, Roy did not suffer several stoppage loses near his best.

He was briefly rocked in the first couple rounds against Roldan, likewise with getting caught by Barkley. What did pacing and chin have to do with that?

Roy also didn't dare to fight the kind of fighters regularly that Hearns did. In fairness to him I guess, they just weren't around for the most part. Wonder what Roy's ledger would have looked like if he'd had to fight those guys.

I think he got sloppy when he was tired.

I disagree with Roy’s opposition being limited. He was more dominant.

We'll just have to disagree there I guess.

Roy did not fight Sugar Ray Leonard's or Marvin Hagler's near their prime either. And Hearns got over those losses and won more titles. Once Roy lost he sort of fell apart and was stopped several times after. Hearns had more survival skills and he learned more so he could extend the career after stoppages. They had different careers. Hearns was more ups and downs and fighting better guys which were in his generation but perseverance. Roy was more up against lesser guys and then went down and down and down yet showed a lot of perseverance also. Hard to compare yet I think Hearns being able to come back and modify his style and use those modifications to win more titles shows more versatility. .

I tend to think that if Hopkins or Toney took care of Roy, like Hagler and Leonard did to Hearns, they would be held in even higher regard than today.

Probably. As it stands though, neither one is in the league of any member of the Fab Four. Frankly, to me Jones is also on the outside looking in.

I can't make up my mind as they are both surreal talents with suspect jaws. But I will say this. Both Roy and James Toney would stop Tommy all day long.

That's false. Hopkins has a better overall career than the comparable Hagler and Hearns fought an aging blown up Duran. Toney was much more highly regarded when he fought Roy than Duran against Hearns.

No, it's simply an opinion that differs from your own.

I have to agree. While I consider Hearns to be better p4p and an overall better fighter in general, asking him to beat Jones at 168 or 175 is a very tall order.
