Callum Smith looks set to duck the John Ryder rematch. As we all knew as soon as we heard the used car salesmans comments.

Tony Bellend has mentioned that his next opponents could be Daniel Jacobs, Canelo or Eubank Jr.

How does he do against the following at 168?

    Ryder rematch
    Daniel Jacobs
    Canelo
    Eubank Jr

Obviously if Canelo chooses him he’d Be daft not to take that fight. Other than that he should rematch Ryder and beat him fairly this time. Much like Katie Taylor this robbery will hang over Smith unless this fight happens again.

Canelo but I think Canelo will choose BJS.

If not then either the Ryder rematch or unifcation fight against Plant or Benavidez. Jacobs would be a good fight too.

Eddie’s latest IFL he says “Smith and Saunders are the front runners for Canelo so they’re just waiting for a phone call to see who’s got the fight. If neither of them get it they should unify. If they don’t unify then the Ryder fight could sell out the o2 and easily sell out Liverpool”.

So I guess it’s (in order of their preference) Canelo, Saunders or Ryder.

Think he’d gain a lot of respect for rematching Ryder. Wouldn’t be able to argue if he unified though or fought Canelo, no one turns that down it it’s on the table. I expect Eddie will throw him in with Rosado at 4am in Chicago or something anyway

Fighting Ryder again would be my preference. Right now I don't see it being much different to the 1st fight. The rematch would be close again I think.

Smith vs Jacobs really interests me as well actually. Again I think it'd be close, hard to pick a winner in that one. I'd like to see them next to each other to compare size to help me pick my winner there.

I think Canelo beats him quite comfortably, and would probably stop him IMO.

I think Eubank would take the same approach as Ryder did and would try and fight him in a similar fashion but not being as successful and think Smith out-boxes him to a UD with Eubank having some moments of success but not enough in the end.

I'd be happy for any of these fights to happen next tbh, but the Ryder rematch would be my first choice. The first fight was epic, and Ryder clearly deserves the rematch, I had him beating Smith in the first one.

If none of them get the Canelo fight him and BJS need to fight each other , other than that I wouldn’t mind him fighting Jacobs another easy fight to make.

Still wanting to target largely career middleweights as expected.

Ryder but it will never happen

Its going to be BJS as Canelo will ignore both of them

I hope canelo blanks him tbh. He should be trying to unify against either saunders plant,benavidez....There's no excuses for these not to be made. especially the saunders fight as it's the biggest in either of their careers.

I'm not sure Canelo fights him. Smith isn't really a name outside of UK boxing fans so I doubt DAZN will really be pushing for that fight to be made.

I think smith will fight eubank Jr. Winner faces Saunders then winner of that faces canelo.

Ryder is the obviosu choice but maybe doesn't bring the money - i'm in the mintority as i saw Smith winning a close one but can see him wanting to move on.

Eubank would be a decent shout - but again is the money there - Eubanks last fight was an interesting one on paper but fizzled out.

Smith V Jacobs would be a good fight, the kind of fight Smith needs to bring into true World level and get the big money fights although saying that looking at the rankings it's not exactly a stacked division at present is it?

It is arguably the weakest division in boxing in all honesty.there's 3 other champions to fight for unifications so I don't see the point in fighting Eubank who has just moved back to 160.
