Some say that the version of Baer that Louis beat wasn't the prime version. And had he fought the best version, Louis may not have fared so well. How do you see it?

Max Baer was 26 when he fought Joe Louis and Baer had been a pro for six years.

I'd say Baer was in his prime.

Joe Louis, on the other hand, was only 21 and had just turned pro 14 months earlier.

The question should be how long does Baer last if Louis was in his prime.

In fairness, Baer did have a broken hand, but tbh I don't think it made much different in terms of the results

Maybe a little longer but Joe still nails it. I don't see even a prime Baer ever beating Louis tbh.
