So with wilder and fury's rematch not far down the line what do you think the undercard will be like? Reports say it's going to have a ppv card and a free too air card. There will be a mix of top rank and pbc fighters on the card but unfortunately not fighting each other. My idea for the card is that it's just going to be a normal undercard. I made a some what of a prediction but really it's just my idea of the level the undercard will be at. My ppv card for Feb 22nd Fury v wilder Marcus Browne V chad Dawson Albert Bell v Hugo Ruiz Ray Beltran v Argenis Mendez Charles Martin v Chris Arreola Free too air card Brian Howard vSamuel Clarkson Isaac lowe vRoli Gasca Efetobor Apochi v Garrett Wilson Chris Zavala vThomas Smith Young pbc Young top rank The opponents I've matched the pbc and top rank fighter's with are just a rough idea of the level that they will be facing.
I have very very little expectation from the undercard. The last one was pretty poor, so I don't anticipate this being any different
Please, no more Leo Santa Cruz on a Wilder undercard. Cruz sucks the life out of the building. He's a guaranteed 12 rounds of slapping.
It would be nice if it was a heavyweight undercard. It's going to be a joint promotion with Top Rank. I heard Top Rank recently signed Agit Kabayel. Maybe Joe Joyce and Kabayel could fight on the undercard. Both are WBC contenders. Maybe an Efe Ajagba fight. A rematch with Kiladze would be fun.
There will probably be 1 competitive match, 10 dreary mismatches and Marsellos Wilder getting KO'd by a guy with 2-15 record.
Gee wouldn't it be nice if they really took some pride in this card as a whole? There will be a lot of eyes on this fight, with both ESPN and FOX putting up promotional funding this could be a big night for boxing. Or it won't, the undercard will be crap, and everyone (hardcore and casuals included) just sitting around waiting for the main event while some part time out-of-shape dudes suck wind and grapple. But hey you can always wish right?
Bob Arum hates putting on competitive undercards. He came up as a promoter in the 1960s with Ali. With him, it's only about the main event. That's it. Can anyone name who fought on the Ali-Terrell undercard without looking? Who fought on the Ali-Cleveland Williams undercard? Don't look. Hell, who fought on the Tyson Fury-Otto Wallin undercard? Who fought on the Tyson Fury-Tom Schwarz undercard? If Arum puts on a competitive undercard, it's usually because the person he's copromoting with encourages it. I'm just thankful that Butterbean and Mia St. John are retired. Arum used to load HIS undercards with their "fights."
I'd like to see Martin fight, I would favour him heavily in potential fights against the likes of Washington or Arreola.
I'd like to see a half-decent matchup or two on the undercard. Warren, Arum and Haymon have LOTS of fighters they could pit against each other, there are plenty of good matchups that could be made. But sadly, their undercards are usually poor. Some people complain about Hearn, but Povetkin-Hunter was an excellent HW matchup on the undercard of Joshua-Ruiz II.
PBC and Top Rank are both supposed to have 1 fight each on the PPV. Assuming theyd both have a title fight on there, and what fights need a home, I'd go Benavidez vs Yildirim and Zurdo vs Salamov making up the PPV
Apparently the PPV is only 3 fights. But then Fox and ESPN will be showing separate undercards, not sure how that will work out though.
