Earlier today, Cameron - who last fought in April of 2018 in a defense of the Commonwealth middleweight title (and was subsequently popped for 25 nanograms of benzoylecgenine...meaning they found trace amounts of cocaine in his system, not something that is generally considered a PED unless taken directly before a fight) made the announcement that he's going to focus on the next chapter of his life in boxing, as trainer rather than in-ring competitor. Sad.
They would have allowed his nearly two years of inactivity to count towards his ban (a bit less than half of it) but that would put his return in mid-2022, his thirties well underway and prime shattered. They offered him a reduction if he were to plead guilty, but Cameron has stated no intentions of doing so.
Interesting how fighters with different financial backing get dealt with in this sport. Good luck to him in his endeavours
I know, right? How many Brits have popped for actual performance enhancers only to get (relative) slaps on the wrist?
Indeed, I remember a case recently where a guy was cleared with no clear explanation as to why and the timing of that announcement just so happened to happen during that fighter's PPV broadcast. There was another one too where a guy hadn't fought for AGES and that was just accepted as his backdated ban instead of giving him, oh let's say a 4 four year. It's a funny old game.
UKAD/BBBoC is brutal towards no-name fighters. The exact opposite of their PED stance to big namer's, who seem to be able get away with virtually everything, or a slap on the wrist.
Compare this to Tyson Fury who conveniently accepted a backdated 2 year ban after a self imposed 2 year retirement. By mutual agreement, resolving the UKAD proceedings against him based on the reported presence of elevated levels of nandrolone metabolites in his urine sample provided after his fight with Christian Hammer in February 2015 and for his refusal to provide a sample whilst world heavyweight champion in September 2016. Not to mention his two failed tests with VADA in October of the same year for benzoylecgonine (Cocaine). Money talks...

It's true. If you are a big money maker it seems you will be cut a little slack. Manny, Canelo and others, who are huge draws and the face of boxing to some extent are cut a little slack. Lots of money on the line for a lot of people.
Indeed, or the new WBC policy of automatically exonerating you for Clen if you're a Mexican. It's putrid.
