Rocky very early. Tucker has nothing to beat him with. Nothing to keep him off. This doesn't go 3 rounds.
Yes I think a telephone conversation went something like this: Don King: “I’ve got Billy Douglas’s son and a long haired guy who failed an audition for the Soul-glo advert part of the Eddie Murphy film. He’s called Tucker. I don’t know his first name, might be called Todd, Teddy, Toby or Tommy, who cares what that mofo is called, he’s under contract” Bob Lee “ I heard of Tucker, Billy Douglas has a son? can he fight?” Don King: “yeah he did beat Page, but that was after his rehab thing...but don’t worry, Douglas only drew with that Scandinavian kid Spinks beat with a bandy leg and David Bey knocked him cold” Bob Lee “sounds good, I just need the belt occupied as fast as possible before Tyson unifies.. hell! .we can’t miss out on our sanctioning fees now can we. Ho ho”
This is pure lunacy. Tucker wasn't stopped, early or late, until he was 40 years old. With a broken hand, he was able to keep off the quickest heavyweight to ever hold the title. Yet, a tiny slow-twitch plodder like Marciano, who made his name on old fighters whose legs betrayed them, is going to catch up with a prime Tucker and stop him early? Not to mention that Tucker could outbox Marciano in his sleep. Name me one fighter in the heavyweight division over the past 2 decades who fought successfully with Marciano's style and his physical limitations.
Cokkell only had to beat a washed up Lastarza, and a hyped heavy Mathews to get ranked. Tucker was ranked in five separate years, how long was Cokkell ranked?
Christ, Lastarza and Cokkel must have been great! By the same token Tyson & Lewis must have been ****!
Calm down tuts, he was trolling. Now go and waddle to the medication cabinet before your heart gives out.
Tucker didn’t fight anybody special until he fought Tyson. We don’t know if Tucker lasting as long as he did was down to how bad Tyson prepared for that fight...and it is well documented that Tyson broke training to party for 2 weeks and was talked into not cancelling the fight by Jimmy Jacobs...who probably told Tyson he could still beat Tucker if he was only half as prepared as he had been for any title fight up to that point. yes a broken hand. Amazing he was never so good again. most people find that boxing is about levels. There is world level. USBA level. Journeyman level etc etc. When people don’t have enough logical ammunition to qualify they often stoop to size advantage. But size advantage only really stacks up against foes that were never really world class or all time greats to begin with. The majority of people at least acknowledge Marciano was a deserved all time great. Tuckers True Level is leagues below. He never beat elite men. He lost to men as short as Marciano. A morbidly obese Andy Ruiz fought with a fair few limitations. The Height and reach he gave away to Anthony Joshua was comparable to anything Marciano might have gave away against Somebody like Tucker who was totally outboxed by 5’9” Orlin Norris. A man who quit the heavyweight division after being robbed by Tucker (who he totally schooled) to drop down to become a successful 189 pounder. Later orlin went back to heavyweight, even beat Tucker a second time, presumably because he boosted himself back up with “modern training”. Such was the opportunity within that era. incredibly after 20 years of pro fighting Norris weighed less in his last fight than his debut.
Again, where is this heavyweight post Marciano who fought in that style with those limitations and was elite? Crickets? Shocker.
Andy Ruiz. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. Morbidly obese Counter pressure fighter giving away enormous height and reach.
Andy Ruiz is faster than Marciano by a factor of a thousand. He has far better balance, reflexes and over all skill. Do you have eyeballs?
