If Lee Savold can go 6 at the end of his career coming off knock out loss, I'm sure Kovalev goes more than 2.

In the 50s the weigh was the day of the fight so they couldn’t dehydrate and rehydrate, with a day to rehydrate, Marciano could make 178 lbs and they’re naturally round about the same weight

Marciano went 49-0 (43) overall, 7-0 (6) in Heavyweight World Title Fights, and 6-0 (5) vs. Hall of Famers Louis, Walcott x2, Charles x2, and Moore. Marciano was down twice in 49 fights (Walcott and Moore) but got up quickly both times and went on to stop his opponent in both fights.

Marciano fought Lowry in his 21st and 30th pro fights. He fought LaStarza in his 26th and 45th pro fights. He won two decisions over Lowry but a case can be made that Lowry deserved the decision in their first fight. He won a split-decision vs. LaStarza in their first fight which was pretty much a draw. Marciano stopped LaStarza in their rematch which was for the HW World title. Marciano was definitely better in his 45th pro fight than he was in his 26th pro fight. So, are talking about Marciano at his best or when he was still improving?

He went 4-0 (1) against those two fighters. He had some trouble with them the first time he fought each man but the rematches took place after he had improved and he clearly beat them both in rematches. A better question is this... Just because Marciano struggled with a couple of fighters when he was still improving, what makes you think he would have those same problems with any other fighter that you imagine him fighting? You do know he clearly beat those guys in rematches, right? Why not use those fights as examples of what Marciano could do? Marciano would beat Kovalev and I am a big Kovalev fan.
