The McGuigans earned from the fights they were involved in.

Cyclone need to accept they are a management company, not promoters. Without a broadcast deal boxers like Taylor need to look elsewhere.

on the flip side you could say why didn't Taylor get them involved in any deal? Surley any worldwide exposure would have been beneficial to the Cyclone?

We don't know all the facts but from all the info we have it seems clear Taylor has actually just ****ed them off.

How many guys have lost them money tho. Plus the risk their taking is it worth it. Tbh its a mugs game....all risk and little reward.

Taylors never really had a massive following and yet they,ve got him good fighters across from the start. The mcguigans have put their hand in their pocket for him. To add to that taylors took offence their angry and already online bamming up his new deal. It leaves a bad taste. We can try to justify it..its pretty low no matter what we say tho. They all deserve to be paid. People saying the fighters take the risk is fair enough....but they do get the lion share of the money for it. Without guys like the mcguigans, ingles, booths, nelsons etc or even the promoters etc. These guys wouldn,t be where they are. To get a guy to that level its never a one man operation. They deserve the lion share of the money for it but the other guys deserve paying and reaping the rewards as well.

Im honestly staggered by people thinking you need to be loyal in this sport
Get in, get paid then get out
Its entertainment for us, life risking for the participant's

I understand morality is a great quality and id agree but the boxing journey needs to be looked at differently imo

Boxing is relatively safe sport, it's actually more safer than alot of normal jobs in the UK. I am willing to bet more ppl have died in the building trade or as a fisherman in the last 10 years than have ever died boxing.
Taylor would of made really good money with the mcguigans, maybe not as much as with top rank but that's life. You have the choice of ****ing over the ppl that helped you get to where you are or you stick with them and earn a bit less. We aren't talking about some guy on minimum wage or an average salary. Taylor will earn big regardless who he signs with.
I think it would of been fair to give the mcguigans a couple of big fights and paydays before jumping ship. It feels like the mcguigans have gotten him to where he is and are missing out on the rewards just as he's about to make the big money fights.

    Safe?
    Punching people is not safe
The death rate may not be high but after effects are id wager
It might seem harsh but honestly im all in favor of the fighter in every scenario
I couldn't give two monkeys about promoter's or managers and id advise a boxer to have a similar out look
It works both ways you know

If a fighter starts losing watch his phone stop ringing

As i said, in and out with faculties in tact as much as possible

Plenty of people will earn ‘big’ regardless where they go but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t look for the best deal.

I’d also be quite surprised if there are that many boxers on the sort of money people are talking about here. How many fights could Taylor have in his career where his take home, post tax earnings are more than a million pounds? It won’t be that many, and whilst to lots of people a million seems an enormous amount, his career will probably be over by the time he’s in his mid thirties leaving him with the prospect of fifty years without a salary. He’ll never be poor, (or at least, he shouldn’t be if he’s sensible), but we’re not talking Bill Gates here.

And boxing plainly isn’t safe. That’s a ridiculous comment. You can make it safer, but you can’t make it safe.

Relatively speaking it is safe compared to many normal jobs even in the UK. That's a fact. you can get ill after effects from loads of jobs, there's welders whos lungs are ****ed from breathing in toxic air and ppl who have cancer from breathing asbestos from building sites for example. There are countless jobs out there that are a much more unhealthier than boxing both in the long term and short term. Boxing on the surface comes across as a dangerous occupation due to its combat nature but reality is it's not even one of the most dangerous sports let alone jobs. Its only real danger is the long term effects on the brain but as I said there are many jobs out there where ppl end up with health problems in later life.

How on earth is not one of the more dangerous sports?

Clearly, clearly, blindingly obviously far more dangerous than snooker, golf, darts, tennis, football, hockey, anything that involves a horse, cricket, swimming, diving, anything martial arts based with the possible exception of MMA, both rugby codes, all athletics, weight lifting, American football, baseball, basketball and most motorsport. There are obviously more.

Off the top of my head I’d say motorcycle road racing is more dangerous but beyond that I’m struggling.

    Even if statistics are true
Those poor guys have no option to go get life changing deals
    Better wages? Sure
Better perks? Yep if you look around or are headhunted
Boxers as mentioned above face the prospect of having a lot smaller if any income when they retire
Take the best deals when they arise and look after yourself and family
If any good the promotor or manager will carry on working
And it shouldn't be a concern for the fighter in all honesty

As I explained in my above post boxing is relatively safe compared to alot of sports and is incredibly safe compared to lots of normal jobs in the UK. A quick Google will show the facts about how many ppl die in jobs such as agriculture or fishing or even lorry driving. Just because two guys get in a ring and punch each other doesn't mean it's life threatening or even remotely as dangerous as other jobs. If you go out on fishing boat in the north sea and fall overboard then your chances of survival is minimal. Everytime a fisherman goes out to sea he's taking a risk with his life and the facts back this up. Punching another person in a controlled environment with refs and doctors ready to step in is very safe. The heavier divisions could maybe be argued that there is a element of danger but even then it pales in comparison to setting foot on a fishing boat or even working at heights as a scaffolder. The facts and the death rates show this clearly.
If earning a few more million is more important than his friendship and loyality to the mcguigans then fair enough it's his choice and as a scotsman I will still support him but I think it's a shame that the mcguigans don't reap some more rewards for getting him to this stage.

I respect your point and I don't think he's entirely wrong moving but I do think it's a shame that he's fallen out with the guys who's helped him get to this point in his career and I would if liked to of seen the mcguigans get a couple more big paydays out of Taylor before he left them

    I do agree
Its much better if people work and get on together
This sport just isnt the one for it really
History shows people move all the time and fall out
Almost as much as football players bounce from club to club
