For discussion purposes, I’ll throw Micky Ward’s left hook to the body into the mix. At least worth a mention.
Via that sort of theory Lee Oma also hit harder than Marciano, Charley Green hit harder than Bob Foster etc etc etc ad infinitum. No dice.
Nah, Frankie just landed the perfect shot. If Tank and Loma met, and Loma didn't get dropped, would you say that Linares was a bigger puncher than Loma? Clearly not.
I disagree there .. he was just a much faster and better fighter who didn't throw one shot at a time but was a whirlwind .. Pryor ruined people .. he was a murderous puncher.
Juan Laporte kod about 50 percent of his opponents and kod Rocky Lockridge with one punch. He also staggered the ultra durable Azumah Nelson. KO percentage isn't a perfect indicator of punching power. In the case of Randall and Tzyu, seeing how their power affected a common opponent and seeing that Randall faced a much better version of Chavez and hurt him more with single shots makes it easy to see Randall punched harder than Tzyu.
Any boxer can be hurt if they get hit with perfect punches on the button that they may not see coming. Who did Randall KO as good as Zab Juddah then?
Agreed. Randall walked JCC onto a peach of a shot. Anyone who gets caught square on like Chavez will go down, iron chin or not.
Tszyu for the precision of that right hand. For power though Randall Bailey is a worthy shout. Not a great fighter but he scored some KO's that were Julian Jackson like in terms of single shot pure power.
I remember when Bolillo came up from Mexico, hyped as a monster puncher, then went 10 with Tim Brooks. Then he fought Jimmy Paul and landed one clean punch and Paul stayed on his stool.
