90s BABBEEEE!!! Best Heavyweight era of my lifetime, plus a very fantastic and star studded Welterweight era, plus Roy Jones at his best and Bernard Hopkins laying the foundation of his legacy, not even to mention Floyd winning his first title in 1998 Great, great era to be a boxing fan
Started watching Boxing as a little kid as it runs in the family, still does. I can remember John H Stracey and the Finnegan - Minter wars vividly and of course Ali. I'm not one of these who bangs on about how much better the game was in the past but it was easier to follow when we only had 2 versions of World Titles. Of course that, at the time was considered an aberration. There have been great fights and great Fighters in every era and if some of the fights talked about this year come off such as Joyce v Dubois or Yarde v Smith, we will continue to be thrilled by our sport.
I was born in 1981, yet the generation of 1895 to 1910 is the most fascinating to me! More recently, 1970 to 1985, possibly.
I have a great admiration for boxers from all eras, whether it be from the 1890s or the present day. If I absolutely had to choose, I would probably say my biases at HW are greatest for the Ali and Louis eras, in terms of who I'd support in mythical matchups and era specific arguments.
