Klitschko was always talking about this. Now he is retired professionally no reason why he cannot box amateur. There are veterans in the amateurs who would take pro's to school, different game.
Yeah not a fan myself. I prefer the old way of once you turn pro there's no going back. Boxing in the Olympics should always be the pinnacle for amateur boxing.
True enough but then these fighters go through camps specifically designed for a 12 round fight, which you'd assume they wouldn't do for Olympic fights as there're more fights over less time of less rounds, so it's a different type of conditioning (to an extent at least).
Olympics are the pinnacle for Amateur Boxing, so I have an issue with a pro fighter stepping down. IMO if you are pro, and you step down to Amateur, all boxing organisations should remove the fighter from their rankings and relinquish any title that they have. It's not safe and just does more harm than good. Baffled at how he says there is nothing for him in 2020 yet he hasn't fought a top 20 fighter yet to raise his profile, a bit odd to me.
Not just that, but pro's would steal the limelight from up and coming amateurs who will be scouted by promoters
Wlad is 43 now and boxers are not allowed to box in amateurs over the age of 40. He was interested at one time in boxing in 2016 Olympics when would have been 40 though.
Apparently, Marciano reverted to the amateurs whilst a professional, and lost to Coley Wallace. He returned to the professionals and despite the loss, Rocky continued on his “unbeaten” run! Filip, has a ready and willing opponent in Martin Bakole, forget the Olympics, they might be cancelled anyway.
Doesn't look like he's doing this now. As Croatia have sent Marko Milun at super heavyweight to the Olympic qualifier
