What if Roy had fought at CW and tried to win a title there, instead of feasting on cannon fodder at LHW?
What are you asking? If his resume would be stronger? If things would have turned out differently? A win over Toney/Jirov would have been nice before he'd have fought Ruiz. I think his career would still have played out the same. He would still have fought into his late 40's. Regarding his LHW reign, he fought some good fighters there.
I doubt Roy would have been very effective at cruiserweight He would not be able to move as much at the higher weight and he had a suspect chin. I remember he was considering to fight Jirov but then backed out. Roy really was a force from 160-175 pounds. Above that, he would be less effective and gets knocked sooner or later
He may have beaten Jirov. I doubt it tho. Can't see many other scalps there which would be note-worthy
Roy’s prime was at 168-175.There is little evidence that he would have dominated at cruiserweight. To the contrary, Roy got knocked out twice at cruiserweight
Jones dominated everyone he ran into. Reflexes handicapped athleticism unmatched No one ****s with a prime roy jones no one
We saw what capabilities he had against Ruiz. You can say what you want about Ruiz' horrible, ugly style, he was as good as most of the CW's at that point in time. The version of Roy who fought Ruiz would certainly have been capable of beating Jirov and Toney etc.
