Can you give us a rundown on how Marciano beats Dempsey, Tyson, AND Liston? The latter 2 in particular. Personally I think he loses to all 3.
Certainly. I believe not only do all 3 do everything better than him with the exception of stamina and heart but styles favor them as well. He's not going to box, he's going to come right at them. A punchers dream
I think prime Iron Mike would rock Rocky hard...but heart to heart, Mike suffers here. He could completely freek Marciano out in the first three rounds and annihilate him, sure. I'm just wondering what happens if Rocky keeps coming back...
I wouldn’t quite call that a run down, and saying they do “everything better” is a little vague and perhaps disingenuous at it’s core. To me I would call a guy who carries his power better than “them” into later rounds is a punchers (and punching) nightmare, rather than a dream...but to each their own. now I am not a Marciano fan bur I do like him but really no more than the other 3 guys. Marciano/Tyson are the only ones on my top 10 HW’s list both on the 7-10 tier w/Frazier and Holyfield. I listed Tyson on top but really have all 4 guys on the same slot. Liston and Dempsey don’t make my top 10 and come in at 12-13 after Johnson and I don’t think they are quite as great... h2h I think all 3 have more power than Marciano, but I also think Marciano lands consistently harder shots through a fight than all 3 (but think Tyson is the closest in matching that). I find Tyson vs Marciano is the toughest match for me. I think Tyson would be much quicker and even stronger out of the gate and Marciano would be in big trouble for 4-6 rounds (and I am not a stand up to Tyson is all you have to do type of guy). There is a real possibility that Tyson could stop him on cuts or by a huge sequence of punches and that would not shock me...but for me the most likely scenario is Tyson gradually slows down and Marciano heats up. If over 12 rounds I would expect a SD for either guy, although I favor Marciano by a hair. Over 15 I think Rocky stops him in the Championship rounds. Liston- I think Rocky has trouble with the jab and figuring out how to close the distance. I also think Rocky is better defensively than many give him credit for and Liston would find it difficult to land cleanly (outside of the jab) early on. Around 4-6 I expect Rocky to gauge the distance and close it more effectively working the body hard. I expect Liston to slow down around 7 and Rocky to gradually break him and stop him around 10 or so. Dempsey- I obviously don’t think as highly of as some do, and that is fine. I see Rocky taking it to him quicker than the other 2 and stopping Jack in the 6-8 range. Liston Tyson is interesting...I do think (like my guy Frazier) that Liston/Foreman are the worst possible matchup for Tyson...and that Tyson would rock Liston big early but that jab is gonna get Tyson around 6-8 and stop him. Liston Dempsey I think Liston hurts him early and stops him around 4. Tyson I think destroys Dempsey and stops him in 1-2 at the worst.
I didn't say everything. I gave Marciano heart and stamina over all 3. I do agree it's a little vague. So let me break it down further. I believe all 3 were faster (you can make a debate about Liston), bigger, stronger, more skilled, better adaptability, less prone to cuts, better resume (with the likely exception of Dempsey), longer reach, less prone to cuts etc Nothing disingenuous at all about this. Really? To me it's obvious Tyson has the worst stamina of the 4. He has 1 KO after round 7 in a career spanning 18 years and it was against a very limited journeyman. If Rocky can get past those 4-6 rounds, I can agree with you. But I don't see how he would. He's facing someone with all but every conceivable advantage and his own advantages (stamina, heart, and chin) wouldn't come into play until later. It also depends if it's under modern rules or old school as this can play a part whether a stoppage occurs when Tyson inevitably opens Rocky's face. Marciano was troubled by a shot Louise's much slower jab and looked like hell. By his own admission he couldn't avoid them. He just had to take it. I agree. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Again I think Dempsey was superior to Marciano in virtually everything and I think Marciano plays right in his hands by coming to him. I could see it being similar to the Firpo fight but lasting longer. I agree that Liston would stop Tyson but I'm a bit perplexed that you gave Marciano a better chance than Frazier as I feel Frazier was much better than Rocky H2H Agreed. Defiinitely plausible. I've enjoyed engaging with you. Unlike Rocky's more rabid fan boys. You bring up excellent points, while not trying to portray Rocky as superman. You also don't insult people when you disagree with them (The Undefeated Lachbuster). My respect for you has skyrocketed.
well...first I don’t know how to break the quotes up as cool as you do lol, but I will at least try to respond... This content is protected I was speaking in regards to Tyson landing consistently harder shots...not stamina. I agree in regards to stamina. This content is protected I also think Frazier is better h2h (although narrow) than Rocky...I see it more of a style advantage than a skill level 1 (in regards to Liston). This content is protected Likewise...have a great night
H2H Liston/Dempsey I cant decide at the moment Tyson Marciano the most overrated man on this forum along with Lennox Lewis
The story I hear is 1 week...but he should not have been booted at all for acting like 2 posters (unless they get booted...PLEASE!) who do the same thing on a daily basis.
I's that what he got kicked off for, putting all those threads up? I didn't know, I just saw he'd been booted.
