Fury - 8/11 Wilder - 11/10 If the fight had have happened immediately after the 1st, what price would it have been? Cannot help but think Fury would have been a chunk shorter?
I actually think Wilder is decent value in that case. I was never a fan but that right hand is dynamite & 36 minutes is a long time to stay out the way of it!
More I think about it I can see Wilder winning fairly early. As you said cannot see Fury avoiding him for 36 minutes
Youre right OP After the first one i think Fury would have been a heavier favourite As time has gone on though, and Wilder has starched a few more bodies, and Fury has looked damn terrible, i think the odds are about right.
The odds haven't really changed, they were pretty much the same after the first fight. What really surprised me was the odds for the first fight. Wilder was pretty much near even money. The bookies clearly knew what they were doing. I thought Fury would get blown away early!
Wilder is an average heavyweight with rock solid power and Fury is a durable boxer/mover who had never been beaten and won on points in Germany against Klitschko. It was always a likely even fight and the bookies had it as such. The myth that Tyson was a distant outsider is just that; it didn’t happen.
Fair odds I would say. Wilder has nothing apart from that right hand. He barely won a round barring knockdowns last time, didn't win a round against Ortiz. I have Fury a slight favourite with Wilder on a (decent) punchers chance.
It’s a 50/50 fight, the odds are spot on. If Fury manages to dance around the ring all night and Wilder barely lands a glove, people will say what great odds fury was. If wilder knocks him out early then it’s the other way.
The odds may have been fairly close but the opinion from the public and most boxing experts was that Fury would get blown away. After the Pianeta fight, I and pretty much everybody else thought Fury would get blown away. But what happened between the Pianeta fight and December 1st 2018 was incredible. I was at the Staples and you could tell from the first couple of seconds, Fury's feinting was sharp and he was on it. He looked fat at the weigh in. Can't wait for this fight, the hype and buzz is going to be insane come Feb 22nd.
There were rematch odds shortly after the first fight and they were similar to what they are now - Fury was very slightly shorter. With the way the first fight ended, the rematch odds were always going to be very close. No doubt there are backers of both convinced their man is going to win. I know what I will bet on at those odds.
Wilder has had 2 re-matches. In the first he went from a UD win, to a round 1 KO. In the second he went from a round 10 TKO to a round 7 KO. He is taking this next rematch relatively quickly off the back of his last win, with reduced camp against a fighter who holds no belts and who he has put down twice in their first fight. Some commentators stated that Wilder matured in the last fight where he barely threw a punch till he landed the winner. That may be maturity, or is perhaps an understanding of what he has. Maybe they are one and the same. Based on the first fight and subsequent events, I would not be taking a shorter price on Fury.
