I would back Whyte to take Ruiz jnr more than I would him to beat Povetkin. The latter is more skilled than Ruiz jnr, more experienced, he's tougher than given credit for and I think he'd be able to deal with the threat that Whyte possesses, even now. Whyte arguably lost his first fight to Chisora, was losing on points to Chisora in the second fight, despite deductions, prior to the late stoppage and he was hanging on for life against Parker. Those have been his biggest fights other than the one he got iced in. Don't get me wrong, Whyte is decent, he's done very well and he can feel a bit hard done by, Povetkin was one time elite level though and he knows how to deal with someone like Whyte. Ruiz jnr has a fairly low KO ratio, a pretty average resume and, let's face it, got lucky with AJ, who was preparing for a totally different opponent and proposition in Miller. Ruiz Jnr will never be World Champion again. Beats Ruiz jnr Loses on points to Povetkin
I far prefer the Andy Ruiz Jr fight, and given the amount of the offer made to him that seems to be Hearn's preference. Andy Ruiz Jr will bring it and Whyte is never in a bad fight. I suspect Ruiz Jr will not turn up in tip top shape mentally or physically and get out hustled by Whyte in this one. Lets face it, if you cant get up for the first defence as the HW champion of the world against the man you beat to become champion. What can you get up for? Povetkin is visibly slower and lacks the punch output these days. I would prefer it if he retired, he isnt doing himself any favours fighting on at this point. No desire to seem him in against Whyte.
Povetkin is a decent fight, not a given either. But a good risk vs reward fight. Ruiz, too big a risk I think. But I’ve picked against Whyte before and been proven wrong. He’d need the ref on side though...
Whytes 5th PPV and 4th Headlining himself 0 World title fights. Con man. Him and Eddie Hills have had the casuals pants down.
Either fight (Pov / Ruiz) is an absolute cracker. No inches given. Slug fest. I presume from the Benson tweet that the "big fight in winter" is Joshua? Personally, I want to see Wilder / Fury v Whyte with the winner facing Joshua.
Imagine the limited Whyte swooping in to achieve what the DEMIGOD Hunter failed to do in beating Povetkin. Hunter fans will be in denial for the rest of the decade. "Its not fair because Whyte is a natural heavyweight, and Hunter has to work harder"
I think they do. It's just because we don't see Whyte as this massive world beater ATG like yourself.
Well I’m also in the same boat, I also dont see Whyte as this massive ATG world beater. But on every topic with hunter and whytes name... whyte gets trashed hard... including myself
You sure don't make it seem that way Aydamn I think people believe Hunter is better technically and give Whyte problems woth his movement but ultimately i think Whyte rag dolls him eventually, when in shape.
