In Crawford's four fights against world class opposition at 135, 3 of them being world title fights, before his weight bully ass had but no choice than to move up to 140 because he was coming in as high as 153 and he'd only actually technically made the lightweight six times in his career, he went 4-0-0 (1 KO). He was taken the distance by Klimov, Burns, and Beltran even though he had 9lbs on Klimov and 6lbs on Beltran. The only world class 135 pounder Crawford has stopped is blown up 126/130 pounder Gamboa who Crawford had 7lbs on and an obscene 9'' reach advantage and Gamboa was always chinny when fighting opponents his own size. Hence why he'd been dropped in like four different fights going into that one. I reckon Lightweight Loma who weighs about 138lbs to Crawford's 153lbs at that weight (TC's heaviest weight at 135 AFAIA) stops Klimov, Betran and Gamboa even though he'd be giving away at least 7-8lbs to the later two who themselves were giving away 6 and 7lbs to Crawford.
Crawford walks him down while keep the jab in his face all night long. Too big and strong for the small lomachenko.
Loma befuddles and dominates Crawford who basically clueless for more than 6 rounds against the basic Kavaliuskas
If Crawford isn’t allowed to balloon and have a massive weight advantage, I like Loma in this matchup. Crawford was a WW starving to make 135. Loma is a natural 126 pounder fighting two classes above his ideal weight. Loma is a better boxer in every category except power. Crawford is a more powerful puncher although Loma has power at his natural weight. Crawford is great but he has had so many fights against smaller guys. At Welter, his natural weight, he doesn’t seem to want to fight any top fighters. It’s a difficult fight for both guys but I think Loma is a better PFP fighter. Crawford is very good and is much bigger. I hope Loma drops down to his natural weight eventually and that Crawford fights a real opponent at his natural weight. Now that Spence is hurt, Bud is calling him out. That’s not happening any time soon. He’s also called out Manny which looks like a really good fight. Manny is old but still has some gas in the tank. Crawford was knocked down in his last fight by a guy who isn’t close to Manny’s level.
I don't think 135 Crawford is quite as good as current Crawford. Both fighters tend to start slow and improve as the fight goes on. Honestly i think Loma is a bad matchup for Crawford. I don't see anyone keeping Loma at bay with a jab and Loma has very good defense in the pocket. Crawford is easy to coax into exchanging in the pocket but his long limbs aren't designed for it. I think Loma works Crawfords body similar to Ward vs Kovalev.
