I think the complete opposite. If he was that cheap a boxer he would not have a belt. People are delusional to call him a bum. His level of opposition is questionable, and his style is off key, but he is a HW champion for crying out loud. Thats not a normal achievement. His fights are hugely entertaining, and boxing is an entertainment sport....And his last few fights have been soooo good in my opinion. If he fought like Floyd the same guys would be moaning about how boring he is. I love when any athlete gets to the highest level with questionable or not by the book technique, and this is coming from someone who loves Pure boxing.
So why are you acting like he wasn't a decorated amateur who could box? He was adaptable for sure and fought to win no matter how ugly the tactics might have to become but it's not like he spoilt in every fight he had.
Idk man. You and i seem to be looking at the OPs question diferently. I was not in any way disparaging Andre Ward or Deontay Wilder. They have both beaten other fighters who were supposed to be technically superior to them, that's all my point was. Thanks and good day

Wilder and Ward aren't comparable. Ward adapted his tactics to maximise his chances of winning. Wilder has one plan in every single fight, keep throwing massive right hands until one lands.
See to me, that view is somewhat of a casuals view on Wilders career. The truth is, at least to me... is that even for a 6'6" athlete like Wilder, it took a combined 35 amature fights, along with 39 pro fights, three years as an amature and almost 10 years of professional boxing training camps under him, before he beat a past prime Ortiz in the first fight (while almost getting stopped himself). This idea that Wilder just strolled into the world scene and start beating top teir boxers is simply not the truth. He'd been boxing damn near 13 years before he beat Ortiz. And he has still yet to truly beat top top fighters. ... Also, this part will be more controversial, but to me, the idea he lacks all skills is also a nice myth. He lacks a lot of the fundamentals when it comes to many boxing operations, true... but many of his best KO's come from very good timing and placement, which is itself a skill. Wilders overall effectiveness in landing a lot of the shots he lands, is rooted in timing and accuracy. Now Im not saying Wilder should be considered one of boxings most skilled... but Im saying what hes doing isnt as easy and unskilled as it looks.
Wilder is one of the most talented HWs ever. He started boxing late and managed to win an Olympic bronze medal.

Punching well is clearly largely natural, a combination of power and timing. So in this sport you can be out-skilled but ultimately still land a killer blow. You can't just be losing badly but hit a few great winners in tennis or home runs in baseball and win. In that way fighting is a little different. Having said that, Wilder is not the novice people make out. He's apparently been training for 14 years. It doesn't take you 14 years to master a profession/area, even very technical jobs. He's very experienced at this point, having been a full time boxer with a good trainer for many, many years. When he was more of a novice though, it's common knowledge what Wlad did to him and some other people in the amateurs. So I don't think Wilder has exposed boxing, but he does confirm that fight ending power allows you to be competitive with people far more skilled.
Dave Allen fought Dillian Whyte and Luis Ortiz in his 11th and 12th pro fights respectively and he only had 10 amateur fights down at domestic level. Granted he lost to both but Bootleg D was 39-0-0 before he felt confident enough to step up to Luis Ortiz level and he had 35 amateur fights and went to the Olympics and is still ducking Dillian to this day after 43 fights. So can we put some respect on Dave Allen's name?

The irony will be if Wilder wins the Fury fight......so basically a bum like Wilder beat the God Of heavyweight boxing......but Fury was sooooooooooooooo skilled..... Win or loose the Fury fight, one thing is certain and etched into stone......if AJ and featherfist Usyk ever find their balls to step in with Wilder .....ones head will be trigger a search party by the Royal navy and the other Hype job will need the sniffing salt to wake up from the 100 count.....bank on it.
