Nate Campbell vs Robbie Peden is another one....I guess getting ko'd while putting your arms by your side and tempting your opponent to hit you isn't all that controversial though.

Another fight worth mentioning is Joseph Agbeko vs Abner Mares. The first fight was one of the most despicable display of constant nut shots and corrupt refereeing in recent history. A proper ref would have docked points and eventually DQ'd Mares.
In the rematch Agbeko fell short again, this time with less controversy.

I'll say this: I honestly think had Kovalev been given the win over Ward his career would be so much more different. A win over Ward would have been considered a great win and wouldn't need to have a rematch. His confidence, focus, training, and aura of invincibility would have lasted him a bit longer and he would have been the top dog of the division for a few more years. That's why I think the second fight was such a huge letdown for Kovalev and it completely derailed his career.

Huge shame and injustice that resulted in Kovalev never becoming the same fighter and letting himself down. But that's boxing for you.

Alfonso Lopez defends against Guty Espadas and is way ahead but is stopped in the 13th round. In the rematch he is again ahead on points and again is stopped in the 13th round.

The first Jose Napoles - Armando Muniz fight, Muniz is robbed blind of the title after leaving Napoles a bleeding hulk in the 12th round. The corrupt Ref and Commission confer for minutes to make up something to protect Napoles and came up with, "Since he was butted in rounds 3 and 5 Napoles wins a technical decision." In the rematch, Napoles wins a correct 15 round decision.

Juan Coggi - Eder Gonzalez - anyone who has not seen their first fight needs to watch this on youtube to educate yourself on the definition of sheer corruption. Coggi stopped him again in the rematch.

This is a very good point but I also feel his chin resistance just dropped off immensely

Arnold Taylor v Romeo Anaya - Anaya is way ahead, having dropped Taylor 4 times and was battering him when Taylor throws a Hail Mary right hand that takes out Anaya in the 14th round. In the rematch Anaya again is stopped in 8 rounds.

There was a clear knockdown of Collins from Eubank in R2 not counted by the ref, Collins won the round on all three cards! The scored knockdown of Eubank in R8 was less clear than that, simply a push to the sternum/balance issue - Eubank wins the round if you exclude that knockdown if you watch... That's six points. Look at the scores.

Then the ref doesn't start counting Collins for over 5 seconds when Eubank drops him heavily (another legit kd).

Eubank was the clear betting favourite for the rematch.

I imagine they had a rematch clause and Kov would’ve been beaten in the rematch.

How was that controversial? Marciano won a close fight that the era's scoring system deemed Marciano the winner.

It's revisionism to say it's controversial, as it would be a draw today.

Patterson vs. Quarry! Their first fight: Quarry won the 1st and KD Floyd in the second (2X) giving him a (by those California rules) a 4-0 lead going into the 3rd round.
Patterson whomped his arse from there on out letting Jerry salvage a draw with Floyd's "cigar store indian passivity" in the last 2 rounds.
The rematch in the elimination tourney: Jerry (again) was up due to flash KD's in the 2nd and 4th rounds; after that Jerry appeared gassed and Floyd took over the rest of the way.
    First fight: Majority Draw Quarry
    Second fight: Majority Decision Quarry
Patterson should have won both fights had his head been screwed on straight! My $0.02
