None of what you say is anything close... even near, fight fixing.

Fight fixing is a federal crime, and getting caught doing it in the biggest fight of the year would do borderline irreparable damage to the UFC brand and jeopardize its actual lifeblood, which, contrary to what people in here think, isn't McGregor, its their business partnerships.

How are shoulder strikes dirty? That view legitimately baffles me.

Its a very open and effective way of dealing with someone trying to crowd you and helps opens up the range back to striking.

I find it odd that anyone would like the concept of mma and then turn around and want to ban shoulder strikes.

And its not even comparable to a knee to a downed fighters head. Which cause brain trauma and is banned for safety concerns.

A short shoulder strike is nothing like that, and it fits right in to the spirit and concept of mma.

So how is it dirty exactly? How is a legal blow dirty? The front knee kick that some fighters use or the elbow does way more gruesome damage than shoulder butt.

I think you have more chance of screwing up your shoulder than actually harming the other guy.

One of the dumbest things I have ever seen. Elliot lost the first 2 rds then in rd 3 walks forward like a tough guy hands down not throwing and getting punched in the face. Tim with an IQ of ZERO then looks surprised when the decision goes against him. IDIOT.

Think there's only ever been couple fighters KOd by shoulder strikes, which are probably as likely to do damage to the person throwing the shots then it is to the opponent, which is probably why fighters don't do it that often.
Nick Diaz and Anderson Silva are fighters who regularly used it with success and anybody able to KO or do serious damage to an opponent should be applauded for there skills and abilities to do so and not criticized as being dirty fighter imo.

Plenty of people foolishly called it fixed including in this forum. Unlike you i'm not a clueless fan boy or hater and can see things for what they are and have my own thoughts and opinions and can make decisions not influenced by emotions or by fighters/people i like or dislike.

Who exactly am I a fan boy of? You are the one with the Diaz Moniker as you're user name. The dude is a deluded moron and was never anything more than a journeyman and a wannabe gangster.

I'm going to sound like a right idiot but I didn't even know shoulder strikes were a part of MMA, I'm only just geting into the sport so to see how much damage shoulders can do was crazy!!

Do you know of any other fights where shoulder strikes damaged an opponent

I was on 4channel the other night and somebody posted a gif of a fighter using it effectively. One of the fighters threw a poorly executed lead left hook while his opponent rolled underneath it and instead of countering with his own punches decided to drive his shoulder forward into his opponent's face. Amazingly enough, it actually dropped the fighter but from just seeing the gif it's hard to say whether it actually caused significant damage or it just knocked him off balance.

Generally, though, shoulder strikes are rarely used and not very effective. They're used most often in a clinch situation (often in an overhook/underhook tie up) when one fighter has pushed the often against the cage and the range is too close to even use short range elbows or knees effectively. I think the purpose of the strike is to just hit your opponent with *something* even if the damage is going to be rather minimal, similar to how mma fighters use footstomps in a clinch or boxers use roundhouse punches to the side when they can't really get enough leverage to land with much power.

I believe Jon Jones used the shoulder strikes against Glover Teixeira in their fight a number of times.

Still, Conor McGregor showed us from this that any weapon can be effective if used at the right time with proper execution. It'll be interesting to see if they're developed more in the future and maybe have a greater application than what it seems at first glance.
