The guy is such a talented boxer who is just letting his career go to waste, he is no youngster either. He is a special fighter when he’s actually on it, has a good chin, the fastest hands in boxing history very possibly, great combinations, doesn’t vary his punches enough but moves around the ring very well, he has all the tools to be a P4P fighter, hes got a fantastic win over Joseph Diaz and gave a 126 lbs Loma a good fight. It just seems that after the Loma fight he gave up on boxing, that defeat made him realise he can’t be the best, he grew up lighting up everyone in his path and his confidence must have been sky high before the Loma fight, **** happens, he lost to another incredibly special fighter but GRJ could have done so much more and still has good 2-3 years to cement his name somehow. This sport holds so many great potential fights for him... he could fight; Cruz Berchlet Diaz Tank Warrington Stevenson Farmer (If he beats Diaz) I would favor him to win most of those... luckily his next opponent is a step in the right direction and let’s hope it just the first step of many.
Its perplexing. Legitimately taleneted boxer. He seems to have the Amir Khan disease of only wanting massive fights, but unlike Khan, he doesnt actually have enough of a following to swing getting them. He ends up just fighting regularly enough to keep his belt.
GRJ was one of my favorite fighters. He has great tools, knows how to fight and is one of the most talented guys at his weight. Maybe the most talented. I don’t get the feeling he loves boxing but since he’s good at it, has to do it to make $$$. His inactivity is so frustrating. I don’t think he’s big enough to move up much higher in weight. Isn’t he a true featherweight at this time? Plus, I’d hate to see him compromise his ability to make more money. Berchelt is a pretty big guy and might be too big for GRJ (GRJ is more skilled my my opinion). Isn’t Inoue talking about moving up in weight? GRJ looks pretty small framed and I bet he could drop down if the money was right. I’d like to see him fight Inoue if they could meet at a comfortable weight. Two skilled guys with contrasting styles. GRJ has amazing ability and it’s sad to see him waste his prime years when he could be a star and make much more $.
Seems fairly reasonable for a millionaire whose line of work involves risking brain damage. Also he wants a big payday but they’re ducking.
GRJ definitely does NOT lack confidence, even after the loss to Loma. He also beat Diaz already. I actually picked Diaz to beat him and was in awe of his ability to absorb the hellacious body shots he took throughout the fight. - Santa Snooze wants no part of him. GRJ practically begs for that fight. - Berchelt would definitely sign up for it, if offered. - Tank is a natural. I don’t understand Invisible Al’s reluctance to build this up into the regional attraction (DMV, (D.C., Maryland, Virginia)) that it is. Maybe Invisible Al is happy to “treat” fans to showcase fights featuring Tank and GRJ versus Kenny Last and Willie Getup. - Warrington has Stevenson problems, however, I do think he’d jump at the chance to fight GRJ. - Stevenson has Warrington problems PLUS he’s with Top Rank, on the other side of the street...damn, I hate that phrase! - Farmer is NOT going to beat Diaz.
I think he is a bit unstable and lives in a bubble. Most likley and introvert who just trains comes home and hangs around his family - possibly watching youtube conspiracy and or self empowerment videos.
I have seen an interview of his once he said he’s a full time father and pretty much said boxing is just business to him. Didn’t seem to have much love for the game.
He really doesn't love the game. It's a paycheck for him, and since he doesn't blow all his cash the minute he gets it, one or two big checks a year is plenty.
