Browne came up the hard way?! Fought semi-retired fighters in Tillman, Towers, Walker and Toney to pad his record. Went on to fight no-one until meeting Ruslan Chagaev where he was popped for steroids (twice). Fought Julius Long twice, knowing full well after the first fight he would KO him... He then turned up as a fat slob against Whyte and got sparked out. Got KO'd by the incredibly limited Dave Allen And just to top it off, in his last fight pulled 46 YEAR OLD JOHN HOPOATE out of retirement to slap around and still got rocked in the process.
Agreed. I was a fan of Browne on the way up. He was a character who despite his limitations got by on his power and brawn and seemed keen on fighting all comers. This **** is getting old though. He should just retire.
It sucks that the result against Chagaev was not changed to NC. Chaggy didn’t deserve to go out with a loss to a roided to gills bum like Browne.
Does anyone here follow Lucas Browne on any social media? He just posts photos of himself lounging around in his bed and other sort of self-loving stuff. I think he gives one of the best interviews in boxing, but he is grumpy with his fans and seems to love himself a hell of a lot.
I would be more shocked if a high level athlete was not using performance enhancing drugs, therefore I am not really sure what your point is.
Both Browne and Chagaev were subject to testing, Browne tested positive, Chaggy didn't. Therefore that result should've been changed to no contest. My point is your opinion is irrelevant when there are actual test results.
He did show some dedication at one point and looked like he was actually focused on getting better as a boxer. I think it was before he met Chagaev as I remember he improved his physical shape as well. I was a fan as well. Like you said, he is a character and I always root for the hardworking underdog.
Well, my opinion was in response to your opinion: "Chaggy didn’t deserve to go out with a loss to a roided to gills bum like Browne." The fact of the matter is that you have no idea if Ruslan Chagaev was using performance enhancing drugs, or not, despite testing. If your argument is that Lucas Browne tested positive and Russian Chagaev didn't, and that this means that Lucas Browne used performance enhancing drugs and Ruslan Chagaev didn't, then you clearly have absolutely no idea about anti-doping policy and the technological, social and economic environment of which surrounds. Lance Armstrong was the most tested athlete in history, yet he never failed a drugs test. That's because he had a highly sophisticated medical team around him who were one step ahead of anti-doping governance. Additionally, he had the major player in the game behind him, Nike... If you think Ruslan Chagaev had any chance whatsoever of testing positive in Russia, then you need your head checked.
Sorry, I don't base my opinion on speculation. Povetkin tested positive just a month after Browne and Chagaev fought, in a test conducted in Russia and conducted by the very same anti-doping agency. So yes, Chagaev did have a chance to test positive under the same circumctances. Your argument is nothing but a nuthugger get out of the jail card.
I think Wallin will edged Browne but I can't see Wallin going onto beat a top 20 fighter unless we counting the current spent version of Fury being in it.
