As soon I saw this vid I thought of an article that said Robinson was great at punching, moving backwards but I never saw Ray do these moves in his fights on youtube, which fighters were thebest at this tactic though?

The guy in the video is freaking clueless; it is virtually impossible to be more wrong on a subject. If he is out there teaching that, may God bless those who walk into his gym.

I wish I could "like" your post more than once. When I saw that he was moving one foot without moving the other I tuned him out. One of the first principles I learned in boxing was that if you move one foot, move the other the same distance, keeps the feet under you and keeps you on balance. There were so many things wrong...Terrible video for boxing.

Every single thing. My particular favorite is the way he describes throwing a right hand moving back. That is about exactly opposite of how to do it; he really misunderstands how body weight moves and how to manipulate it.
He makes very simple things into multi step routines. My guess is that he made those up himself and feels that he is an innovator.

He`s a highly rated youtuber and there`s no way you thought he made that stuff up sometimes he has champin kickboxers in alongside him etc.

My thoughts also, even when this guy demonstrates his technique he's not balanced. What would he look like in a real fight? Punching going backwards is more about timing your opponents forward momentum and using his forward force to help knock him out. Very few fighters in history have done this consistently. Its almost the "lucky punch" scenario.

The way he is telling you to move might make sense if you are also planning on kicking somebody. I don't know. As far as boxing boxing goes, he is miles off base.

He didn't plant his right foot when he hooked and he didn't pivot his right foot when he punched with his right. As greynotsoold mentioned in another post, he made simple maneuvers into multi step moves. If the guy is rushing you, not respecting you, why not take a half step back, rotating your body to the right and try to time him with a right hand or a right uppercut, or rotate left and use a left hook or uppercut? Much simpler than sliding the right leg out and then bringing it back as you punch taking all of the power away from the punch. The moves reminded me of the karate instructor who has a different move for every situation, when he is demonstrating and his move doesn't work, he tells the person, "not like that, throw from here..."

Mark mentioned that he never saw SRR using any of these moves...No surprise, don't think you'll see any good fighter using them!

There was once this guy named Ray Robinson, some called him Sugar... but y'all probably never heard of him.
