If we say lineal then Jeffries, Mike Spinks, Ingo, Jack Sharkey. Anyone higher than those he'd probably lose to.

Probably Lennox Lewis. Those guys were a pretty even match.

    Absolute rubbish.

The guy lost every time he stepped up, and was seen as a bit of a national joke at the time!

Couldn't disagree more , Quarry is a notch above him and Bruno won't hit him cleanly enough to win, and I think Tate gets to him about like Bonecrusher did. Dokes probably gets a UD . Shavers? 50/50. Berbick ? the longer it goes the more likely Trevor wins. I ain't a big Bruno fan, because I saw him

I think Frank can beat the likes of Spinks and guys like David Bey/Botha/Valuev/Charles Martin, Touch and go against a Moorer/Ruiz/Lykahovich/Maskaev types.

What Bruno is never going to do is string together title defenses. He might win a title---like lots of guys---but defending it?

If we view the 80s alphabet titlists as one big homogeneous blob, Bruno was not quite on their level. He was stopped by Bonecrusher as well as an out-of-shape Witherspoon, and Coetzee was faded by the time Bruno got to him. I don't think Bruno showed any reason to favour him over Dokes, Tate and Berbick at their best, or Weaver, Thomas, Tucker or Tubbs for that matter. Dokes' handspeed would be very problematic for Bruno. Berbick would be able to stand up to Bruno physically, and had much better stamina down the stretch. Tate had similar weaknesses to Bruno, but had better movement and was a more fluid boxer.

Spinks is a bit of a wildcard due to the size difference, but I think Spinks would come in with the right gameplan; there were few better fighters in the modern era at executing a strategy to exploit weaknesses in their opponent's game.
