That they were going to improve the quality of Saturday Night Regular Fight Nights What happened to that? First two Saturday Fight Nights of the year on Sky look pish First you have Kell Brook Vs an American Journeyman Mark DeLuca. On that card you have the cure for insomnia Kid Grabahad, and some women's fight featuring Teri never Heard of her. Then, Scott Quigg Vs Jono Carroll. The fight no one was asking for but everyone got. Okay it is a decent fight and at least competitive, so you'd expect a good competitive undercard to go with it. Wrong, you will get Hughie Fury and Scott Fitzgerald fight Vs the finest TBAs Matchroom can find down the alley behind tescos
I suspect the counter argument would be that Brook is one of the few UK boxers that could claim to be (or more likely have been) world class. There's a chance it will be his last fight if he is, as I suspect, shot. Galahad isnt great to watch but he arguably should've been given the decision in his recent title challenge so he's therefore one of the top domestic operators. Finally, as you yourself said, Quigg, Carroll is a decent fight. So maybe not great, but enough of interest there for UK fans to tune in and hope for some surprise undercard interest. All depends on whether your a glass half full or empty type I suppose?
Starting to take the big fights over to Dubai now for big money. Also not many British fans can afford to go to Dubai at the drop of a hat so they have to by the PPV. Win Win for Eddie, hes a business man, a salesman, smiles to your face feeds you what you want to hear but just wants your wallet.
Matchroom also figured out if they take 3 regular Saturday night fights and put them on a Derek Pudding Chisora undercard they can sell it as PPV
Fights in places likes Dubai/Saudi are brilliant for UK fans if the fight isn’t going to be in the UK. Boxing on Saturday at 10pm is immeasurably better than Sunday morning at 4am.
Eddie has taken a **** in the UK fans cup the last few years, most of us have stopped drinking from it. Except Tony Hayers who loves the taste
Yep, I long for the good old days of having Audley v Rogan and Khan v Salita on PPV and nearly every big fight over here not only on PPV but also on in the middle of the night.
Be careful mate, the subject matter or his other Matchroom FC mate on here will report you as they have got a few banned since Nov 2019. Leave the usernames out of it and just focus on the poor Matchroom Cards.
Whilst I cant say I'm overly excited about seeing Kell Brook take on a man whose last fight was in the Dunkin' Donuts Centre in Providence, I think it's a little harsh on Mark De Luca, 24-1 with that 1 defeat avenged straight away, to refer to him as a journeyman. We're living in an age where if you get wobbled by a punch from an 18 stone man you can be labelled as glass jawed, let's not call people with one defeat on their 25 fight record a journeyman!
That sheffield card nothing looks interesting at all. They didn't even need to make a big just get a fight that competitive and exciting. I can see both the main and co being dull. The harper fight not going to be that good either. Maybe the tomlinson fight will be decent but his opponent hasn't got a high ki ratio. The manchester card at least the main should be exciting thou. fury fight will be dull. The fritzgerald fight will be a mismatch. hopefully they will put the callum johnso
Sounds like nearly all of the Matchroom non PPV pony cards for the past 2 years and most of their PPV cards as well.
