Yeah, that's pretty much the sum total of the "martial arts shakeup" that's happened due to MMA tournaments. Techniques like takedowns and clinches are much higher percentage than precise, accurate strikes against a resisting opponent, so if you’re going to be really good at one thing it’s better to be really good at something high percentage.

Is this always true in “street fights” though? Perhaps not as much as in sanctioned MMA fights.

Bull****! Early MMA events allowed almost everything and Karate didn't exactly make a good showing.

I'll find an interview with a quote for you if you feel that strongly about it - but this was something Bruce Lee was known to say. That's why he urged guys to (basically) cross train and use boxing and wrestling to supplement their other techniques.

To be fair he attempted a sub and also held Metcalf off for awhile. He didn't panic or get GnPed either. Not THAT bad of a rapage.

True. It's no B.J.Penn vs Duane Ludwig. That was prison style face down ass up rapage.

almost all of these guys have a karate background goofy. They couldn't hit in the back of the head. they cannot due small joint manipulation. Also MUY Tai is just another style of karate in my opinion
