Good decision, given his health is possibly deteriorating. He's had some cracking nights, in particular beating Dodd, Katsidis and his fantastic war with Brizuela. All action fighter that was always good to watch. Excellent servant to the sport, thanks Tommy.
Glad he’s hung them up, good decision and like you said been a great servant of the sport. Never in a bad fight and always gave everything. Does a lot of great work outside the ring for his local community etc too, Top man. All the best for the future Tommy
I really like Tommy, both as a man and a boxer. Plenty of bottle and puts it all on the line, he would fight every week if he could. Best of luck to him.
30 years old, good time to retire for someone with his style. Happy for him. And a guy with an attitude like his won't be stuck for opportunities around boxing.
like others have said its hard not to like Boom Boom. left everything in the ring, gave the fans their moneys worth every fight. Loads of heart, an underated technical fighter who just lacked the chin his style required to get to the very top. two fights in his career will always be remembered by me, his fight with Mathews that he so painfully lost and his war with Brezuela where he showed as much heart as I have seen in a ring. All the best Tommy for the future
Good luck to him in retirement - definitely one of boxing's good guys. Gave us plenty of entertainment over the years and showed plenty of bottle.
Had a better career than anybody probably expected. Good luck to him and I hope he doesn't face any long term issues. He seems to do alot of nice things for people in his community, really good guy from what I can tell. Hope he finds something else to quench that thirst to fight.
He was unlucky to not win the british title, had a close fight with Nurse for it at light welter, when really he should have been at lightweight where he would have probably beaten Scott Cardle. Still, his Commonwealth win against Dodd (where he was a betting underdog) will be fondly remembered and I'm sure he'll treasure that belt. Echo everyone else's sentiments about him doing a lot for the community too.
good luck to him, he provided a lot of entertainment for the fans over the years, and does a lot in his local community it looks like. I wish him the best
