Sandor Martín: Arrasandor The Devastating-The Slick Light Welterweight Craftsman Of Cataluña.

Sandor Martín Clemente born 08/22/1993 is a 5′7½ Light Welterweight with a 36-2 13 KO's record. Born in and fighting out of Barcelona, Cataluña, Spain. I've long been a low level fanboy of this crafty southpaw Spaniard, I've always enjoyed watching his matches, for boxing purists, he's kind of a joy to behold. His somewhat humorous nickname, which is a combination for the Spanish word for devastating & his first name, is about as apropos as One Time was for Keith Thurman though, but what the hell, it's got a nice ring to it. Regardless, he's no KO artist, but what he does do, is everything well. He rarely makes a mistake, and rarely loses a round. The youngest Spanish Light Welterweight Champion in Spain's history, Sandor who was also briefly a kickboxer, was a solid amateur & turned pro at the very young age of 18 trained by his father Rafa Martín Carbajosa owner of the famous KO Verdún Gymnasium, his first loss came at only 20 against the fairly decent Frenchman Alexander Lepelley who also handed the slippery Eggington conqueror Mohamed Mimoune his first loss, so no big deal there. His other loss came at the hands of the equally underrated Anthony "Can You Digit" Yigit, the man who went toe to toe in a slug fest against Ivan "The Beast" Baranchyk in the WBSS, and was holding his own, until he had to be pulled out due to his eye being the size of a tennis ball, in other words, he's tough as nails. Sandor before Baranchyk gave the Swedish southpaw one of his sternest tests to date in a damn close tit for tat match, that could have easily been scored a draw, that happened when he was merely 24. He's recovered and rebuilt and has gotten better & better with every passing fight. Recently he dominated Italian Andrea Scarpa and was the first man to stop him, a feat heavy handed Ohara Davies was incapable of pulling off. He followed that up with a dominating performance over the teak tough very skilled Brit Joe Hughes, who gave Robbie Davies all he could handle. Will he ever be world level? Who knows, but one thing is for sure, he's the top of the heap when it comes to European level & will be a damn stern test for almost any opponent at 140. He might very well pull up upset over one of the top guys. He's slick with good footwork, nice punch selection, jab, all around very damn good fighter. So, which top dogs at 140 do you all think he could beat?

 

I'm not so sure about that, Hughes is usually a handful for most of his opponents, but he really had nothing for Martin, and I don't buy those punchstats. It was pretty much a domination. Sure, maybe he was carrying an injury, but he looked like the same old Hughes to me,he didn't look badly hobbled or compromised and I say that as someone who really likes Hughes.

The key factor there is, in Newcastle and Liverpool. I think he could beat Davies and Ritson, although they'd be close contests, and I doubt he'd get the benefit of the doubt from the judges.

 

Since there's no boxing on, educate yourselves on some of the guys that don't get the attention or love they deserve.
