He's almost a made up character. Boxing Ortiz because he needed 10k to pay off a gambling debt. I should know better but I have a soft spot for him. He wants approval from his Dad, he's training these kids and trying to guide them and now getting back in after being ambulanced out of the last fight. It's stupidly heart breaking.
Have you seen how he is handling these lads? There is that one called Danny who he is always raving about as having big potential, so he keeps matching him up against way better and more experienced opponents, sometimes even at higher weights than he should be fighting at, who are battering him. Allen then says the losses aren't a worry as a steep learning curve will do him good. The Dave Allen school of boxing - get punch drunk before you're 25.
It's an innovative approach though. No other coach advocates a fighter using his face as a range finding instrument.
It's a good point Erik. I watched a few interviews where he is talking about getting those lads off bad habits and planning their training, but I do not know anything other than that. Some, maybe all of them appear to be in need of something other than they are used to. If Dave is trying to better them, then fair play to him.
If they do **** there will be less competition on the Doncaster housing market and big Dave will clear up. If things go really well they’ll end up on the dole with the council paying their rent on one of his properties. Hence matching them tough.
This content is protected Saw him saying Dave Allen has got him sober for the first time in years, which has to be applauded. But the training methods maybe need improving
haircut and pushing up his traps... But to be fair if Jay has cleaned his life up then it has been a good infulence. He is only 21 and could maybe get to british level if he works hard.
Why does his head look photoshopped onto his body in the second picture, and they have forgotten to include a neck?
I read in one of the jock papers he went from 23 stone to Scotlands cruiserweight champ. Interesting story about his upbringing in a carribean care home after his mam was caught with 300k worth of coke and jailed over there.
