Johansson certainly put a great pair of back to back wins together against Machen and Patterson. Undefeated record, the heavyweight title and I believe an Olympic gold medal if I’m correct.

If a rematch was a foregone consclusion. why didn't Ingo honour his word and pick up some easy money?

Ingo was thrown out of the Olympics for stalling against US Ed Sanders

"Johansson spent the entire bout backpedalling, without throwing a single punch. After receiving several warnings from the referee, he was finally disqualified for not 'giving his best', and was not awarded the silver medal.[2] He eventually received the medal in 1982."

Thanks for clearing that up. Still a great career. And from what I’m seeing in Boxrec it doesn’t look like he ever faced an opponent with a losing record in the pros..

I thought he had a pretty thin resume.

True it was short. But I think he accomplished a lot for only having something like 28 or 29 fights. He never fought a man with a losing record, established himself as Europe’s best fighter at the time and Ko’d two stellar world class opponents in their primes. Not a bad run at all by my reckoning.

I am going by the fact Tyson and Marciano had similar styles except Rocky was slower and 30 lbs. lighter, and didn't hit as hard as Tyson. Green was never stopped in his prime, so I think he can take Rocky's shots.

He agreed to a rematch if he won and reneged on it. Sheppard ko'd Maxim inside the opening round, Maxim boxed his ears off in their next fight!

Robinson sparked Fullmer out in5 rds with that famous left hook ,
nobody was ever more knocked out than Fullmer ,he said[when he came round,] he thought he had won!He had no memory of the ko!

Five months later Fullmer beat him by decision !

I'm often obstinate ,obdurate, and frequently profane in my responses, but I don't think I'm crazy.

Marciano had a much higher workrate than that of Tyson's as well as superior stamina. Marciano was also much better inside. I believe this would benefit him against Green. Marciano wasn't as skilled, fast, and big (as you stated), and didn't hit as hard. That would not bode well for him H2H though I believe he'd do better against Green (and certain others) than a prime Tyson would.

    Wut?

A green one year pro 19 year old Tyson white washed Green......how is Marciano doing better ? Wait, ungodly Abruzzi is going to stop Mitch...yeah.

Why dont you put the Italian Stallion ONE year into his career while fighting bums from the Boston club circuit against Green.....let s see how he does.......one year would be roughly Haft time frame.....I bet my bottom dollar that his team would never ever let him face Green at that stage of his career because there is a distinct possibility that Marciano does not win .......and Mitch Green certainly would not be afraid of a slow short wide swinging zero reach up and comer ......even a green Tyson is superior in every department as far as pure boxing is concerned who put Green in a shell .......one year Pro Marciano aint putting Green in a shell..full stop.

Within a year and a half he put Vingo in a coma and beat Lastarza...Lastarza would also embarrass Green. Odd some strange people on this site could look at Green and see any talent there.

I would have loved to see spinks vs tyson rematch i believe he could have improved his performance.

While it did not work out for Patterson vs Liston

I'm not using Marciano in his first year to match him up with green. I'm using a prime Marciano. You seem to be arguing with yourself.
