Threads like these merely do harm to the forum you are looking for trouble let people have their opinions even if you disagree. Present arguments in a pleasant manner do not look to shame someone.
I think he may be an alt of that other guy obsessed with Carnera. Who I'm certain is an alt of somebody else.
Duran had greater longevity. Duran won titles in 4 divisions, Benitez in three. Duran beat Leonard, Benitez lost to him. I would argue that while Benitez didn't hold the 140 lb title long and Duran dominated at 135, Cervantes may be better than anyone Duran beat at 135. Benitez beat Duran head to head but Benitez more natural at 154. Still, a great win for Benitez. I think most experts have Duran ranked higher. They were both great but Duran rated higher overall, I think BTW: I doubt Pernell has Benitez higher than Duran just wanted Benitez givin proper credit for beating Duran without excuses from Duran loyalists. See one can analyze this and choose Duran without calling anyone names or using all caps and colored font which, by the way don't improve your argument, just make you look like you are not balanced and maybe seek attention.
Let me be the first to commend you for this balanced opinion piece. I applaud you for your humility in doing this as well. As always keep up the solid work and fight the good fight!
Yes he is. Benitez was dodging elite level combinations with his father while simultaneously bonding with him and strengthening their paternal relationship while Duran was stealing fruit and harassing other kids like the delinquent bum he was. Benitez also knocked out Maurice Hope. Did Duran knock out Maurice Hope? No, in fact he probably wouldnt even know who he was, another black mark in my book. Terrible arrogance. Also Duran is from Panama. What country is Benitez from? I dont know but most likely a better one than Panama. The calculations are complete and the conclusion is indisputable: Primo Carnera is the better fighter.
DID I NOT EXPLAIN TO YOU THE 1/2 INCH FLACK FROM THE METAL CAN LODGED IN MY CEREBRAL CORTEZ CEREBELLUM FROM THE 3 STICKS OF DYNAMITE EXPLODING PREMATURELY ON ME WHEN I WAS FISHING FOR FISH IN THE QUAGMIRE OF VIRTUE IN DECENCY, OHIO WHEN I WAS 24? DID I NOT TELL YOU THAT WHEN I TURN MY HEAD NORTH BY EAST THE SCHRAPNEL PENETRATES MY BRAIN MATTER LEAVING MY AN UNHEALTHILY NECESSARY NEED TO SPEW MY WANTON, VENGEFUL VERBIAGE AND MAKE PRETTY POLLY LETTERS GLOW LIKE FIREFLYS IN THE WESTERN SUMMITT SKY IN MOONTANA. YET, WITH EVERY POST YOU MOCK ME AND PUT DOWN MY VERY MEANS OF COMMUNICATING. ""WHOA"" SAY I. I SHALL NOW UNFRIEND YOU.
Body of work, no doubt Duran, Duran defeated much better fighters, and was successful for much longer. Benitez was no slouch as far as pure talent, and if he had better people around him, it's no telling what he could've accomplished.
Not sure what's going on here .. Guys that were booted like Morlock and Ant are now back in business .. strange .. just a bit curious with the whole thing ..
