    That’s true but CTE is just one of the dangers of boxing.

    My problem with the CTE narrative is that it’s used as a one size fits all excuse for a huge range of bad behaviours in pro athletes. There’s a lot of psyche babble to it that isn’t backed by science. This probably applies more to other sports than boxing.

    That being said people dying directly from a hard bout is a very sad and very real thing. Personally I’d like to see bouts brought down to 8 rounders. I reckon fighters would start to adapt and get more done early and it’s the later stages that are the worst part in terms of immediately dying.

    It's like smoking. Some people smoke their entire life and never develop lung cancer. Others get taken out young by it as a direct consequence of smoking.
