This is getting ridiculous now, the amount of guys in boxing that have had untimely deaths. I reckon there's only wrestling that seems to top it!

    A shame

In the UK we got to see Bumphus on prime time BBC fight Honeyghan. And for added value, Lou Duva was a little wound up!

I remember seeing Bumphus on the cover of Ring Magazine back around 1984. He was the newly crowned WBA light welterweight champion and appear on the cover alongside his childhood friend, Rocky Lockridge who had also won a WBA Super Featherweight title around the same time. Sitting proudly between them was their manager/trainer, Lou Duva.

Now all three are gone. Duva passed away in 2017, Lockridge almost exactly a year ago and now Bumphus. The time just seems to have flown by since they appeared together on that Ring Magazine cover. :confundio1:

An alarming number of 80 s boxers are dropping lately. Bumphus made it to 60 years old. Many didn't make it that far.

You could not handle Bump city. Bump city was too hot for you!

In context, that was Bump city...
