Just thought it would be interesting to see your favourite boxers during your lifetime, only boxers you were able to follow and savour within your own timeline, not boxers you hated and then grew to love after they retired or boxers who were before your time. Not who you thought were the best just your favourites, they could of been shite but you just loved them. Maybe refrain from current boxers as well as that seems to be a popular topic.

    Me own ones:

    1. Wayne McCullough: Probably Ireland's best boxer the last 30 years and IMO he was. unbelievable stamina, chin and relentlessness, a few close decision losses and wins in war after war. Lacked power, if he had a knock out punch he would of cleaned up.
    2. Bernard Dunne: I grew up following him from amateurs up, never lost an amateur fight on the island of Ireland some record and amazing boxing skills. His weakness was the Irish crowd, he would go toe-to-toe when the crowd got behind him instead of boxing smart and it would expose his weakness.
    3. Micky Ward: Excitement in a nut shell.
    4. Oscar de la Hoya: Don't need to say much about him, he's pretty well known. I always loved him and when he went on that mission to fight every top fighter in about 3 divisions he leaped up even further, whetehr he won or lost.
    5. Evander Holyfield: I was orignally all about Tyson in the heavies thought he was super-human, always loved Evander, but he probably surpased Tyson after the Bowe fight. I still argue with myself who would win prime vs prime.
    6. Mike Tyson: Super-Human
    7. Steve Collins: Was a fan until he beat Eubank x2 and Benn x2 he then became legend. Just to put it in perspective Irish tv is dominated by American and British media, the latter more by a country mile and all we ever got was Benn and Eubank are the greatest this, the greatest that, the greatest ever nobody can touch them, then Collins shut the media the **** up (for a while anyway).
    8. Bernard Hopkins: I thought he was the greatest
    9. Michael Gomez (AKA Michael Armstrong) what an exciting boxer if you haven't checked out his fights you should, he had potential to go far so talented but drink, drugs and recklessness made him very inconsistent.
    10. John Duddy: Such an exciting boxer in a time when we had him, Macklin, Lee, Magee and Spike all knocking around the middle, there was rumour after rumour of them fighting each other but no match ever came to the fore. Duddy was a top 10-15 at his very best, but always just fell short.
    11. Angel Manfredy: I'm not sure why I originally began to follow Manfredy's movement, I was young and maybe it was just that tattoo that made an impression on a youngfella. Ended up having an impressive few years.
    12. Marco Antonio Barrera: Another one I thought was the greatest.
    13. Eric Lucas: Another one I don't know why really, was watching a card one night and he appeared and just appealed to me, good career in the end.
    14. Wladamir Klitschko: I was mad about Wlad up until he changed his style to be very defensive, he was an exciting boxer and chased for that KO.
    15. John Kinsella: Known locally as "White Tyson" he showed great potential, his career went off the rails early though getting involved with gangs and Fair-Fighting (Bareknuckle) like a lot of young boxers but he was a pro for a while.
Probably forgetting a tonne of them.

Good thread mate, but I literally can't do it without tweaking your parameters lol. I have to have current guys or have to have ones who I like but couldn't follow. I'll go with the first pick. Man, looking at my actual favourites list, most are WAY before my time.

    #1 - Oleksandr Usyk
    #2 - Billy Joe Saunders
    #3 - Gennady Golovkin
    #4 - Srisaket Sor Rungvisai
    #5 - Callum Johnson
    #6 - Roman Gonzalez
    #7 - Krzysztof Glowacki
    #8 - Ryan Burnett
    #9 - Manny Pacquiao
    #10 - George Groves

HMs to Dillian Whyte, Dave Allen, & Guillermo Rigondeaux. I like them all, just not as much as I used to.

I love Pacqiuao, Saunders and Rigondeaux. Got into Golovkin late but he is another animal. Good list even if outside the parameters :). Never Liked Whyte and didn't rate him but he has defo grown as a boxer and deserves a shot by now, but I'll still can't take to him.

Hi mate, Macca has me covered by a good twenty years and at my age I don’t tend to have favourites as much as just wanting to see good fights between well matched, prime fighters ( a rarity these days at all levels )
