Booth is the best in the country IMO but yeah it was a bizarre pairing to start with. Doesn’t quite seem right that he’s heading out to Vegas without any trainer lined up. What if he doesn’t find one?
I wonder how many people like Booth purely because he acts all mysterious in interviews and doesn't give straight answers. Same with Virgil Hunter
Was hilarious in his last few fights when Joyce started showboating randomly midway the fight. Clearly trying to emulate Kelly in the gym. As others have said it was an odd pairing because Joyce doesn't have any of the natural and technical abilities that Booth fighters have like speed and reflexes. If Joyce is training Stateside wouldn't surprise me if he linked up with Ismael Salas who used to train him. Salas apparently retired but would probably be lured out for a chunk of some PPV money.
I don't particularly rate Booth. His fighters seem to have a lot of technical flaws that never get addressed. He poaches athletically gifted fighters who are always going to be decent anyway. One of his strengths, however, is his ability to man-manage fighters and handle their psychology. Watching his interviews, I can see why people would be charmed by him.
Starting to think you're right. Haye and Ward were can't-miss world champions if they'd Bernard Manning in the corner. Fair to sayBooth and Hill have had mixed results ever since. Enzo Calzaghe was another who lucked into training a freak natural talent.
Interesting. Booth is expensive. Always his percentage, no flat fee deals. That's why Groves dropped him for Froch 2, much good it did him. Is Joe looking at damage limitation ?
I personally rate Booth very highly. But stylistically it wasn’t a good fit. Joyce is painfully slow. I think FW has seen that he is never going to be a title challenger and is feeding him to Dubois. Good call in my opinion, Joyce can hit hard and has a decent chin but zero hand or foot speed his issue really.
It's an interesting one. I don't believe Daniel is all that and old man Joe will lumber on and probably not know when he is hurt. He's got a big, slow diesel engine that just keeps ticking over.
