I agree Sky do have more but I don’t really watch anything outside of the prem and champions league. Sky’s coverage is better but losing the champions league and fa cup going to BT has been a pain in the arse. If it was all on Sky I have no issue but I’m having to pay two subs. On for prem and one for champs league.

I don't think either BT Sport or Sky subscriptions are value for money if you only like boxing. BT don't have many cards, though they have good MMA coverage. I like football, F1, Cricket etc but for boxing alone?

Good points, well argued and I can't disagree. I just find myself as a fan left with fights which don't quite do it for me, at least to the extent that I can justify the additional costs. I would sooner wait until the Whyte v Usyk clash comes along because that's one I feel I have to see and can't predict the outcome.

Although maybe some good undercard fights will swing it. I was very down on Whyte Parker and that turned out to be a great night of boxing and well worth the charge.

PPV is no different to buying a ticket to watch Man City v Liverpool for £65 then being asked for another £25 when inside the stadium to rent a seat - paying for the same thing twice is shocking considering the Sly Sports Subscription is not exactly 5p per month.

No justification at all for fleecing existing Sly Sports Subscribers.

I agree completely its a shame one provider doesnt have everything and let you build your own package. I completely agree with your points too about the fights not being the ones we want to see. In some ways i give Whyte props for taking the Povetkin fight as being completely honest if it was me i would be taking Wach level fights until 2021 when i get the WBC fight. If the Whyte that fought Wach turns up Povetkin could put an end to him.

I agree about the additional costs too particularly with BT throwing Dubois vs Joyce on PPV also. For me i will likely buy 2 out of the 4 as to me I look at it as a weekend cost and seperate to my household expenditure. Its cheaper than hitting the pub with my pals. Its more the subscription cost and offer that i take issue with.

If all 3 fights were on the same card it would still only be borderline PPV.

Oh the apology was to @Jurgen - I got a reminder from the union the other day that he's the forum anti PPV champion and any attempt to cut in on his action wouldn't be viewed kindly.

Plus I'm behind on my subs :( So I had to add that...

I think Whyte may have been told he has to step it up a bit as he'll have lost support/momentum/credibility during his 'lay off'. So even if he wanted to fight the Wach's and Helenius's of this world it may not have been acceptable. Latter day Povetkin is still dangerous and as you say the last Whyte outing we saw wasn't convincing. So there's some interest there.

Yeah it was the seeming downturn in quality as so many moved to the US cards that damaged the regular Sky offering. Meantime Frank's BT cards have always been a mixed bag. Ironically he seems to do well with the little known guys on the undercard whilst his headline acts look thin on the ground.

That's what I told Bert and Eric when they cornered me at the sports and social club but they were emphatic that I was stepping on toes and that further unpleasantness wasn't in my best interests. :(

But when sky had everything people complained and wished for a rival channel. Setanta came along and run out of money and now we have BT sport.

Even if we are talking about just premier league rights. Ofcom don't allow one single broadcaster to hold exclusive rights anymore.

Fine, but the issue is that you would expect the price to reduce on account of the fact that the product is of a lesser quality.

It never does. And as Jurgen said they now expect you to pay twice for any half decent boxing.

Sky are desperate to retain subscribers and there is a good tip for getting Sky including Multi-room at £55 per month including Sly Sports.

    1. Make a list of all the sport on other channels, (eg Champions League, Europa League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Scottish Football and Cricket, Rugby Union, Tennis, Boxing, WWE Wrestling LOL, MMA etc)
    2. Tell them you only watch Sky for football and boxthing with zero interest in the other sports they focus on eg F1, Golf, Netball and Kabaddi.
    3. Complain that most of the football you watched is no longer on Sky and all the boxthing is now PPV so you wish to cancel.
    4. They will offer you £66 for your current package but tell them it is still far too high compared to BT Sports and you cannot afford or justify this.

They will then give you the £55 offer when you cheekily ask them to throw in the movies and they have a deal.

Once your contract ends, rinse and repeat.
