It was a fight in the 90s I was hoping and praying for, GF v MT. It should have happened in Tokyo 1990, instead of that Douglas fella getting the shot!!!

I would doubt that. A prime Frazier had great recuperative abilities. Add to that Shavers was a lousy finisher.

Shavers could be sloppy and frazier could recover quick, but he wouldn't need a map to find frazier who doesn't know the meaning of backing off to recover. Frazier could very well turn it around, especially with shavers lack of stamina, but i don't think this is a safe bet with shavers ridiculous power frazier being right in range and fighting back.

Which exactly makes a case for everyone not Lewis and Wlad finishing the round. Beeing able to beat Shavers after R8 is another thing.

I´m pretty surprised of how low the percentages in the poll are. Of course that depends of how hard that Shavers punch was and some might not even make the ten count.

So far, ony Holyfield and Foreman are in Holmes (and Ali of course) chin+recuperation league, all the others are lower than 45% making it (and could be regarded with a lower chin than Holmes in such instance).

Guys, it was a simple question... do these guys survive ASSUMING they get hit with this punch. I see so many response saying, well, he wouldn't even land that punch... or he wouldn't make it to round 7 to land it as he'd already be KO'd. We're assuming he lands it, with just as much power... what happens?

We´re @BF24 Classics, a world of constructing personal matrices, even @ maximum simplicity. For example (I didn´t even want to add him along with Dempsey....):

yes i am absolutely confident in Marciano's chin and believe it to be on the same level as Holyfield's. Problem?

Perfectly timed full torque counter punches that caught him off balance, he wasn't even hurt

There is an element of circular logic surrounding this famous punch.

It was a great punch because of what it did to Holmes, and he has a great chin because he got up from it.

If a fighter has never been stopped by a single punch, then I would be reluctant to predict that they could not get up from this punch!

That is not to say that they would, but to say that they wouldn't requires a few assumption!

Foreman and Holyfield for me get up any day of the week, I'd bet money that Louis is iced completely, for what it's worth, Lewis as well.

Joe Frazier is a sure pick. If Foreman couldnt put a 10 count on him I'd wager nobody else has a snowball's chance in hell. Frazier would comeback fighting.
Joe had a head like a rock.

Lyle, Cobb, Tillis, Holmes, etc were all knocked down by Shavers. ALL went on to beat him. Only rated fighters he put down were Norton and Ellis. Both were old and washed up (And even so Ellis was pummeling him in the beginning of I'm not mistaken). That's a VERY far cry from beating Shavers.
