It was all going so well for Grimsley as well up until that punch...

    Great to hear brother

It's one of those events that makes you think about the what if's with peoples lives.
Boxing is a pretty ruthless sport in that regard...one fight and it can change everything, for the best or for the worst.

Man, that’s terrible news. RIP champ. Nice read btw.

Had no idea his life turned out so bad post-boxing. Did he (at least) get back on his feet somehow, after being homeless in Las Vegas?

    Terribly sad news.

Thunder was one of my favorite punchers from the 1990s. He was a staple on the USA Tuesday Night Fights. I know a handful of my friends who become boxing fans watching Thunder on TNF, and they remain fans today.

Great television fighter. Always delivered excitement, whether he won or lost. True fighter.

    I'll always remember him fondly.

a bit different here but I remember seeing the Grimsley KO on a pre youtube video site. Back when everything was 240p.. That was before I became a hardcore boxing fan. Definitely stuck with me in the back on my mind I'm sure. You know you left an impact in boxing if your KOs were making the rounds Ebaumsworld and the like in the early 00s.

Its sad man RIP Jimmy. I googled him a couple of months ago to see what happened to him, and last story I could find was that he was in a detention center in the states.
its a shame how many boxers fall on hard times when their career is over. Where are the Hearns, Don Kings when these guys need them?
    its a brutal business boxing.

Loved that quick KO. Never quite understood why he didn't fare better in the pros. Seemed in great shape, power and wasn't a club fighter. Trainers? Lack of discipline?

Somebody mentioned Thunder had mental issues. Probably boxing related as Thunder was a puncher that took a lot of punches.

Enjoyed watching him on Tuesday night fights, RIP Warrior!
