What if in 1999, manager Shelly Finkel threw Mikey Tyson in with Ike Ibeabuchi for his 1st comeback fight after his 2 year boxing ban for biting Evander in 1997? Ike fights Mike in teh place of Chris. So it is Tyson who had a rough war with Botha, fighting Ibeabuchi who proper brutally KTFO 26-0 Byrd. Tyson doesnt have the stomach for it anymore. Ike should take this, however with a puncher like Tyson you cant discount him. Douglas was on his a$$ in round 9, Holyfield ate some monster shots and even Lewis was cautious of Tyson for the 8 rounds. If Ike stands in front of Tyson to trade, could spell trouble. And then theres always the Tyson Fear Factor, one of Tysons forgotten weapons. Who knows Ike might sh*t himself before Tyson? Many other good fighters did
In 1999 tyson was already shottt/ ike would knock him out.....................1991 version of tyson would **** ike ibeabuchi
In '99, Tyson gives Ike a tough slugfest war for about 5 rounds, then gasses badly. He probably looks better than he did against Botha, because despite Ike being of higher quality, Frans did employ the same strategy (although without the great skillful timed counters & combinations) as Holy did in '96 with the constant grappling of him onto the backfoot. A exhausted Mike keeps coming forward eating bombs, while trying to win with one big nuke. When totally exhausted & having absorbed a sustained brutal beating from Ibeabuchi, a battered Tyson is finally stopped in the late rounds.
Look at all of Tyson’s losses, they didn’t box him, they bullied the bully , when Tyson was bullied, he got frustrated, becomes dirty, throws sloppy punches and gets caught and ibeabuchi was a huge version of Holyfield, bigger, stronger and more powerful, not as good of a boxer as Holyfield, but Holyfield didn’t box Tyson, so ibeabuchi could apply the same rough Holyfield tactics and wee him down to a late stoppage
Tyson was pretty much done in 1999, (It should be a indication of were he was in 2002 when he fought Lewis) Ibeabuchi should win this fight easily to be honest. A young big strong aggressive fighter in Ibeabuchi, versus a fighter whose best years were more than 10 yrs earlier. If Tyson got past 5 rds it would be a knock against Ibeabuchi.
Ike would probably win unless his chin wasnt as good as we thought. Tyson was strong for about 2 rounds. Ike by TKO
I see it this way. Once Tyson is forced backwards he longer has that explosive forward momentum on his shots. His confidence drains pretty damn fast after that. Ike could fight rough if he had to. He probably stronger. Unless he had a weakness we didnt see I think he is a safe enough bet.
Another vote for Ike. Tyson was okay against certain fighters ranked 5 -15. but he was not facing elite competition or guys that did things real well. I do not see Tyson hanging tough past about the 5th or 6th round. He'll fold up the tent when he see's this guy still in front of him and ready for more.
I agree and when Tyson couldn’t get people out early which he always tried to do, he gasses and becomes inactive mid and late rounds and that ain’t good against a strong guy who doesn’t stop throwing and like you said, Tyson wouldn’t be able to get the same power on his shots because he’s not a vitality klitschko type arm puncher, Tyson like to close the gap with his feet and explode into the punch with his legs and he couldn’t do that going backwards, some can like Haye, he could suddenly explode into punches whilst going backwards , but Tyson wasn’t accustomed to punching like that, by no means am I saying Haye beats Tyson, most boxers have at least one attribute better than the opponent, Tyson’s was his one punch ko power, but I think overall this is a bad style matchup for Tyson this ibeabuchi fight
Tyson takes an awful beating, not even able to punch this 235lb rock on the backfoot. Ike would stand there, trade or choose to use his reach over an 6 round gassing Tua-Tyson. Tyson would take some punishment until beeing stopped in 7/8/9.
