Top 20 current best British (or British based) boxers today, based on titles, records, wins and current ability.

The likes of Daniel Dubois, Joe Joyce and Liam Williams are excellent fighters but don’t quite make it on my list due to lack of resume. No doubt that will change after one or two wins (especially for the DDD/JJ winner.)

Some of the fighters e.g. Jamie McDonnell have one of the stronger resumes of everyone on the list, but due to recent performances and the fact they are on the edge of retirement, they’ve been knocked them down a few places.

Very hard list to do when considering current ability, resume and titles. Hope to see everyone else’s opinions on the current top 20 British boxers.

    Great post, enjoyed it.

My initial feeling is Taylor and Smith should maybe be a little higher as they're the leading guys in their division?

Yeah good point. With Smith he hasn’t got one single really good win aside from Groves. And most people think he lost the Ryder fight.

Taylor is definitely one of the most skilled, but I think the six above him have better resumes as of now. In a years time I imagine he’ll be top 3 minimum

Campbell is WAYYYYY too low for my tastes. Taylor and Ryder too. Also, it doesn't feel too good having Warrington below Frampton and Khan is definitely definitely not top 5 lol.

My top 10(P4P) would probably look a little bit like this,
    1. Josh Taylor
    2. Josh Warrington
    3. Kal Yafai
    4. Billy Joe Saunders
    5. Anthony Joshua
    6. Luke Campbell
    7. Tyson Fury
    8. John Ryder/Callum Smith
    9. Callum Smith/John Ryder
    10. Carl Frampton
HMs to Lee Selby, Kell Brook & Dillian Whyte.

Over than that, great post! Really enjoyed it, looks like it took some hard work. :D

My thinking with Campbell is he’s defo one of the most talented, but most of the people above him have won a world title at some point, and Campbell has four or five decent wins, none of them being a “stand out” win.

I really like Framptons run from Martinez to the first Santa Cruz fight, that’s the only reason I have him above Warrington.

Yeah i pretty much spent my full week off work on it haha.

I think Tony Dosh PPV should be behind Prince Patel given his humiliation at the hands of the little fatty last year - Josh Taylor my number 1 followed by Tyson Fury at 2.

Although Warrington beat him, you can’t argue Framptons achievements and record are better imo. Warrington has a controversial win over Galahad, Framptons run from the first Martinez to the first LSC fight is better than Warringtons current run. Plus that win over Donaire looks quality in hindsight

Not just based on current ability, Khans wins, overall record puts him ahead imo. Still very early on in Taylor’s career.

Would have had Kal Yafai in the top 3. Britain's longest serving World Champ and still unbeaten.

I think the “current ability” part is enough to send Taylor levels above Khan. Khan is shot to pieces.

There's no way Taylor should be out of the top 5 in anyone's list he's a special fighter.
